question about personal blog and branding for a service provider

So, I've noticed it said repeatedly on this forum that you need a personal blog to brand yourself, especially if you're selling services.

I do have a website that I use for selling my services. Should I add the blog to that website or should I have a different website for my blog?

(The point of this particular blog is to brand myself. )

Part of me feels it should be separate but on the other hand if I had them separate I wouldn't know where to send the traffic from the backlinks to, the blog or the services...

Any thoughts?

I've got a blog on my consulting company's site. Mostly I post stuff about why business owners need certain things and how certain things can help them.

Just install the blog in a subdirectory. This is the best option for you. You can put the link to the blog page in your website. There is no need to buy a new domain for a blog. IMO.
