I wonder how people can make a lot of money from a single site? I always see people wrote articles claimed that they have made $1000 from this site but they never mentioned which one is their main source of income, is it from the ads space itself, adsense maybe, affiliates, or whatever but they mention it and why is that?

High Quality Traffic + Lots of it + a good sales strategy can definitely bring people thousands a month from a website.

PPC, affiliate products, selling digital products, selling services, etc.

It just takes a lot of work and it's not really all that "easy" despite what many will tell you.

Nothing is easy in Internet marketing. If you want money from one site, be prepared to wait at least a year for it to start to perform nicely.

Was that your personal experience? Maybe it took you a year, but your reality doesn't apply to everyone.

Newman8r is exactly right. Though you may be right as well. I doubt that people rely on one site or one method to make 100% of their income.. Just my 2 cents. If you implement what you stated in your initial post and take into consideration and do what newman8r suggested it very well could be possible.

It is possible. It depends on how you monetize a website. Usually you would need a lot of targeted traffic, quality offer and great sales page to make that kind of income.

But its always good to have multiple income streams. As people say...don't put all eggs in one basket

True but at least you need to focus on one site first before you proceed to another one, right?

Not true at all. It really depends on how you want to do it.

One of the benefits of having a couple sites is you can test out themes, niches etc.

I made multiple sites when I started out and worked them all at one time and still do.

If you are the type that gets overwhelmed easily, you could start with just one.

One key though is to diversify income streams.

Single site? In what kind of timeframe?

I have even single pages within websites that have made me $20K+ in the last 2 years.

And sites? It depends - but how much do you think one can make from a site? Sky's the limit.

Hang on, did you mean affiliate site? Yes yes, some of my sites have given $5K per month easily in their best days, probably more.

          That is a good point.

Starting with 1 site is not a great idea because as the saying goes "you don't want to put all your eggs in 1 basket".

However I strongly agree with Andrew Hansen who emphasizes the importance of focus all your efforts on a just a few sites is much better than having too many site and spreading yourself too thin.

When starting out I'd recommend diversifying yourself a little but not enough to get overwhelmed.

Having a 2-3 sites in seperate niches would be a good idea.

Ok, if you would have told me this 2 years ago, I would have said "no way, you cant make that much money from one site". That was when I had just started IM and was building my first site. Now after two years, I can tell you that yes it is possible. I am making around $4000 from my one site!

Of course, it didn't happen over night. It took a lot of hard work and time. Most people would have given up a few month into it.

Now, the important part is that it also depends on your niche. My niche is big (make money online) and I rank high for most big keywords. So, I get a decent amount of traffic and I have lots of monetization methods to choose from.

I use 3 different income sources to make that money, adsense, CPA offers and also selling advertising space.

Now that I have experienced this myself, I can say with confidence that its even possible to make twice that amount if you can use your sites revenue producing potential to its fullest. I am not yet since I am still learning. For example, although I am building a list, I haven't been able to make any money with it yet, since I really dont know much it and I am still trying to learn everything about it.

I know lots of people will read this and think its BS just as I used to think when I would see such claims. But, believe me, if you are willing to put enough time and efforts into it, it is possible to make a few thousands a month from just one site.

Absolutely you can make $1 - $3K from a single site (even daily); I've had some do over $XX,XXX per day. You have a couple of options though:

    (1) Affiliate Marketing Campaigns
One of the easiest ways to get up and running is to create a website that you generate traffic through paid sources such as Facebook Ads, Google Adwords, Microsoft adCenter, media buying, etc. and funnel traffic to affiliate offers (obtained at CPA affiliate networks). Obviously though your site has to do a good job of pre-selling the offer and add value to the user.

    (2) Content Rich Websites Selling Advertisements
Programs such as Google Adsense allow you to place advertisements on your content rich websites where you are paid per click (PPC) or per one thousand impressions (CPM). Since you have to produce your own content and gain a reader-ship these sites do take more time than getting a simple affiliate campaign going but are more long term, stable, business models.

    (3) Membership Websites
Another way to make money from a single website is offer a service where you bill user's on a monthly basis. One of my websites sells subscriptions for "premium news". Took several years to build but very lucrative.

I know my answer is somewhat vague, but I could seriously write a book on the different ways to make $1,000 - $3,000 from a single website. These should be some good ideas though to get you started.

Definitely a reasonable number. I've had dozens of single ecommerce sites make well over $1,000 a month. Matter of fact, I've had a few ecommerce sites makes over $10,000 a month. Ecommerce sites take more "hands on" attention, but the return is well worth it!!

Yes it's possible. I have 2 sites that do primarily from affiliate promotions. It requires targeted traffic. It was a lot of work to build the sites, but now they only require maintenance which frees up time for new projects, which I'm getting underway now. The sky is the limit on the web if you use a proven model and stick with it. Get that traffic one way or another and then ensure you earn more than traffic costs.

Of course...the key is traffic and quality conversions on your site. Once you get the metrics down you scale it up. I owned a site many years ago that cleared $70,000 a month...IN PROFIT...after costs, PPC and staffing...

Its no different than any other business. You to make it work and convert and profit on a small scale and put a game plan in place that allows you to profit once you have some capital pushed through it to scale it up.

    Hope that helps

In my experience, people who have authority or larger niche sites tend to have more than one income stream using it (i.e. affiliate marketing via search engines, list building, selling ad space, and/or their own product(s). In addition, they might have a bunch of smaller sites, have a PLR store, or be a ghostwriter, too. You don't want to "put all your eggs in one basket, so to speak. It's also good to have both a fast-cash method as well as a long-term strategy thing going on.

It all depends on the amount of targetted traffic you send to your offer. If you do this and your site converts well then the income potential can increase as much as you can "scale things up".

    Sasake,

It's VERY possible. I've got one particular website that's just a one page sales page with an opt in pop up. I've had it up for years. I started out by doing some competitive analysis, some intensive keyword research, and then started buying Pay Per Click (PPC) traffic on Google, Yahoo, and MSN Ad center. I worked on my conversions for about 2 months until I found my MOST profitable keywords. Most people aren't willing to do this, which is why most people fail at paid advertising.

Once I got those keywords (there were about 100 of them after testing out about 5,000 keywords) I went over to other ad networks like Valueclick, CPVDirect, etc. and started testing the traffic there. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. Scale up. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. Scale up.

It's actually pretty easy to get to $1,000 - 3,000 per month once you know how to get traffic and convert it; whether it's free traffic or paid traffic. And once you're able to obtain these profitable keywords you're able to duplicate it on as many websites as you want. This is why most keyword lists are useless, because the seller isn't giving you their profitable keywords, only a keyword list.

Because a REAL profitable keyword list would be worth thousands of dollars (at least).

And as you're getting traffic to your site, you build a list, and the list will grow every single day, and then you'll be able to mail your list with offers and bank even more cash.

You also put up an affiliate program using your own software, Clickbank, RAP, or Nanacast, etc. and share your numbers with potential affiliates and your traffic will go through the roof within a few short months.

I do this with membership sites, and I do it with content sites. The income from a membership site is mostly obvious, it's from membership fees. There are other income sources as well though.

With a content site built with quality content, there are many available sources of income. On one of my content sites I sell my own products, affiliate products, I sell advertising (in several ways, directly via inquiries and indirectly through an ad network), I sell memberships, I sell a couple services ... I actually have 8 income sources on one of them.

A grand a month seems like a lot when you're on the bottom looking up, but trust me, there's a lot more to be made and it isn't that hard.

Realistically, if you had a site which converted 2 clickbank products per day at $25 a piece, that's $50/day which equals to $1500/month.

Getting an authority site to make $50/day can easily be done. It just takes the time required to get the traffic plus a good sales funnel.

I had one website with affiliate links that made over 10k per month at one stage, it has been my main income source for years. The problem is it relys totally on google and it got dumped a few months back with the Panda and it has never made anything like that anymore, now Im lucky to make 1000 per month. I had other sites as well that made nice income but they have also been dumped by Google over the years so now Im left with barly nothing and that is why im hanging out on these forums to work out what to do next ..... so yes you need more eggs and more baskets

Yes, you can definitely make thousands of dollars from a single site. This is provided that your single site is ranked high for major profitable keywords on the search engines.

On top of massive targeted traffic, your site must also be designed in a way to convert. You must optimize your sales funnel in your site so that your visitors will turn into customers.

Many successful online marketers do not depend on just one single site to generate income. In fact, they have multiple niche sites on various lucrative niches to generate consistent passive income for them.

If you want to be successful in having websites that can make money for you, then you need to put in real hard work into developing your niche sites. This include intensive keyword research, clever SEO-Optimization, well monetization and the ability to drive massive targeted traffic to your money-making niche sites.

    Warmest Regards,
    Anson

I made in the middle of that amount from a website I had in the gaming niche.

Create unique articles, start to build up an audience/community by posting daily and networking with other blogs in your niche. Do guest posts, build up authority/trust and people will buy your products or affiliate products you recommend that are related to the niche. and you'll rank for a bunch of keyword terms naturally in google to drive in traffic.

Is this even a question? There are sites making millions a day, why would you assume it's not possible to make $1k-$3k (per month?). I've had a couple 5 figure/month sites myself. It's not that hard if you know what you're doing. It seems like most people don't though and that's just a lack of knowledge or a lack of taking action.

I think it's great to concentrate on one site. If you try to do too much, you could get overwhelmed and give up.

    Nope...

ebay.com, amazon.com, apple.com, etc, etc, etc... none of them make $3,000 from a single site. /sarcasm

It is. I don't want to echo the comments of previous posts here, ie strong traffic, but it's true.

You also need a powerful website which converts. Often visitors won't return if the website looks tacky, dated or unprofessional. Also, an over-done website which looks like a template or outside the scope of what you're doing will deter visitors as well.

If you want that kind of results you need to work on that. It just takes time and work. Make a plan and work on it. Dont get distracted or something, because if you give up you wont achieve that kind of results. Even if you fail dont give up, because we all learn from mistakes.

      To success

I agree with Amir Kostic, keeping at it and not giving up should fetch one a few thousands after sometime of serious work.

Depends what you mean by 'make'.

I have made a good living from a website for the past 6 or so years, so yes, that is a LOT more than $3000, hehe

No adsense, no lists, no sponsors, no SEO, nothing like that.

I just made products, and people bought them.

I concentrated on the products. Didn't occur to me to think about all that other stuff until very recently. I am a total novice in marketing, heh.

People came back to buy more on their own, and told friends etc. Boring and old fashioned, yes, but it worked :-)

You can make a lot of money from a website but this is not a simple matter. You must face the fierce competition from strong competitors that are already working online many years. It’s very hard to beat this competition. You must find many different alternatives if you want to make money online. You have no chances to immediately reach the top.

    Selling is a battle.

If you’ll manage to get targeted traffic and if you have products that sell, you will make money with just one website.

Otherwise, it doesn't work. Without traffic generating methods, without the right audience, and without the right products you cannot make money with a website.

Of course, it's possible. Even with Adsense, I have a new site that barely gets 800 visits per day, yet it's on track to make 2,500 per month. It'll also about research before you jump in.

    Yes, it is possible.

If you are driving a lot of traffic to your site and have great product with great sales page, everything is possible.

And you can earn much more with just one site, but you need to know what to do.
