If you are in a moving vehicle and quickly approaching the wall, you need to decide whether you are going to take control of the vehicle or let what happens happen.

I know that it is hard to be fully in control of the vehicle, when you don't know where you are going or how you are going to get there....

The two things you should always try to possess are:
  • A real education (not necessarily a school education); and
  • A determination to take action -- for better or worse;

I see people in this forum everyday who hit a bump in the road, claim defeat and decide to quit.

It is a shame to see people with so much potential who decide that in the face of challenges, the best approach to take is to quit.

The truth is that the best action to take in the face of challenges is to get educated on what can and should be done, then to take action based on your assessment of the available information.

That is how successful people make decisions, even in the face of failure...

When successful people fail, they usually learn a valuable lesson from the failure, then continue moving forward knowing what not to do next time around.

"Would you like me to give you a formula for success? It's quite simple, really. Double your rate of failure. You are thinking of failure as the enemy of success. But it isn't at all. You can be discouraged by failure or you can learn from it, So go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can. Because remember that?s where you will find success."

    I know that my greatest successes so far in this business have been on the back of some pretty big failures. How do you know what's good when you haven't shoveled through the crap? Hope can you know the light unless you've experienced the darkness?

    I think what people tend to do is hit a small snag and then give up so easily. The most successful people take their pitfalls and turn then into something great - taking the mistakes that they made and making sure that it wasn't in vain and that something good can be learned from it.

    It's a simple statement but every cloud does have a silver lining and every experience that we have - both good and bad - helps us to carve out what we really want and helps us build success. I think the best thing to do is to embrace the mistakes because, in the long term, they make you who you are in the end.

    Great analogy with the driver/passenger.

    Another category is that you are the driver but you lost the map!
