Just getting started what kind of program should I promote?

Right I'm brand new and just getting started in Marketing online I have done some some training over the last few months so I have grasped the basics.

I'm looking at promoting a new Internet marketing training course, which is selling for $1000 and my commission would be 35% so $350.00

I was wondering would it be better to start with a lower cost Item untill I build my list up? As i'm just concerned that it will be very hard to try and convert for a high ticket item with me being a noob and having no list.

Is it better to start with CPA programs? or low ticket offers to get some quick cash coming in? or go after the $350 commission product and build my list at the same time.

I was also thinking that if I dont get that many conversions from my initial campain that I could always hit my list up with a lower cost option? or would it be better to promote something lower cost and then upscale to higher cost offers??

Any advice???

cheers in advance

It may be tough to promote a training course when you have very little experience, although I may be wrong.

You need to take a lot more into consideration than just the affiliate payout - you need to see how much competition there is, what keywords you could rank for, how much PPC ads would cost to promote the stuff, etc.

basically, you need to find your niche first before you find your product - do you really want to be in the highly competitive IM niche, or could you identify a niche with less competition and more potential?

It is better to promote a product you have experience with. Sure you can sell a product you haven't used, but you will often sell better and have greater success if you either used the product or really researched and understand it. This is especially true in the very competitive world of IM. Have you taken the $1000 course?

You are asking for advice on if you should promote that or a lower price item. If you took the course and it was any good, you would know how to promote it and what to do.

Start with something you understand and go from there.

So you guys are basicly saying that it would be a bad idea to promote this course unless I have done it myself??

I have done the guys other course and that was very good, so that's why I thought I'd have a go at marketing his new $1000 product.

I mean surly if I can get the traffic, have a decent site and build my list up there is no reason why I cant make money with it right?

I really wanted to go after a high quality product with a decent conversion and commission rate. And I think I have found it with this course.

I am going to use social media sites mainly and free traffic generation techniques that I have learned from some very skilled people to drive my traffic and then build a list by giving away some free high quality marketing content I have the rights to, to build my list.

I guess what I'm really getting at is because its my first campaign, I was worried that I may be biting of more than I can chew. due to the fact that it's a high cost product in a highly competitive market place.

But is it worth a go you reckon?
And then if I'm not making a dime then go find a less competitive market place until I become more experienced???

If you are actually using the product, I see no problem in you promoting the product. Regardless of the cost, the work is the same. As long as people are actually searching for the product, price isn't all that important because when potential customers are looking into stuff, it's all about perceived value. In other words, what will they get from the program? If it's legit and actually works, someone who purchases it will consider it worth it because it saved them from buying a lot more crappy products in the long run. Get it?

Expensive courses like that sell on the strength of the recommendations made about them.

People, typically, will only buy a product like that form/through someone in whose reputation they have a lot of confidence and trust. You stress that you're "brand new", so I think you'll have quite some feat to pull off, getting people to trust you so much, in an area of which you have no experience, that they're willing to buy a $1,000 product.

Maybe ... because selling $1,000 products online, normally, is about building relationships. And that's not going to be the easiest thing in the world for you to judge, with no experience, I think?

It's sometimes good to have available a range of products at very different prices, in your "repertoire".

That said, I think it's not the price itself that's the major issue, here, though.

The major issue seems to be that you're making one of the commonest single mistakes that people who are "brand new" make, which in itself accounts for quite a high proportion of the substantial failure-rate in "newbie internet marketing ventures": starting off with "internet marketing products" and/or "making money online products" is stacking the deck very firmly against yourself. In a way I admire your ambition, but you're choosing, voluntarily, to compete with long-established master marketers, many of them with huge promotional budgets, in an area you know nothing about. It's not everyone's idea of a successful plan, really ...

There really is no ONE answer to your question.

All you can do at this point is test it out. Think about why you bought the course. You paid $1,000 for it right? Why? Was it because you liked the person that was selling it? Give it a go and if you don't make very many sales or your conversion is too low then try adding a lower cost option and test that out. Your success really is about trial and error.

      Good luck to you!

You've got at least two HUGE obstacles to overcome with the product you are considering.

    1) It's an expensive product that people will only buy if they absolutely trust and believe in you as a sales person.
    2) The market you are targeting is very competitive.

Now... With that in mind you've got to realize that becoming successful in selling your product under those two constraints alone could take a VERY long time, if it ever happens at all. That's not to mention all of the other variables that could come into play that would work against you.

If you have time and money to waste and don't mind taking on the challenge, then I say go for it. Otherwise, you might want to start smaller with something more specialized and less competitive. When you start to become successful with that, then scale it up and expand to other products that you would like to market.

The best products to promote as an affiliate are those that you've actually bought and tried out yourself first.
Yep that's right or you might end up scamming people. You'll earn some due to the hype you've built around it but you might also get banned by the retailer you are registered.

  • Promote something that you are interested in. I am in Telecom and know a lot about it. I started with a VOIP affiliate program. I make $50 on each $150 sale, and I've been promoting it through videos, PDF's, etc. Choose something you're interested in and can write about. Build a Wordpress site, and make sure you use a lot of social media to promote it.

Yes, I think credibility is a problem unless you are using this course yourself.

I might start off by list building with a free item first that would be of interest to the same target audience. Then you can promote the paid product (and many other products) to your list.

I NEVER market a product directly to new people. I ONLY market to new people to build my list. Then I promote paid products that I use or have reviewed to them. My list trusts me so I don't send them crap products.

I have a free e-course called "Internet Marketing 101" which shows how to do this.

I am currently beta testing it and you can pick up a free copy and let me know what you think of it.
