Building a list through a forum

I am currently in the process of creating a forum for my wordpress blog.

Being the moderator, am I able to see the emails of those who sign up for the forum?

I am using Simple:press forum.

Are there any better, more professional looking forums that I can download for free? This one looks a bit childish.

If I am able to see the emails of those who sign up, can I use this list to sell to?

    I think you can use the list to sell provided they have opted in to receive information from you. If they haven't it will probably be considered spam and that could get you in trouble.

    I am sure you have heard of Aweber, they provide an excellent opt in structure.

    Yeah dude... If you're creating the forum then you can definitely export the user email address through the mySQL database. If you're looking for a good free solution I'd go with PHPBB just make sure you keep it updated to avoid exploits. None-the-less I suggest saving up your $ and getting an install of vBulletin. Well worth it.

      I think that creating a forum can be a good way to keep people on your website. But also be aware that there can be a lot of policing involved in a forum and can take up a lot of your time unless you outsource it.
