What's the best way to post video in a blog?

I've read a lot of stuff on here about videos, but can't find much technical info on how to post them into a blog.

I've just had a go at embedding a video from Youtube into a Wordpress blog and it works a treat.

But my question is - is using a Youtube embed the best way to do this on blog? How are people doing this?

There only ONE service, after looking at many, that I'd use to embed videos on our blog.

You can click the first link in my signature file to see the videos in action.

The players ( and video file, if necessary ) can be created using Web Video Zone

Assuming we're talking about WordPress blogs here, there is a plugin called
mac-dev.net Download Flash Video Player Plugin for WordPress
    that works for some people.

I think a lot of it depends on whether you're embedding your own videos directly or if you are embedding videos from other services such as YouTube.

I've had a fair bit of hassle embedding my own videos in my blog so look forward to any ideas from the video heads here.

I use WordPress for my blog.

I just put the video on YouTube and copy their embed code and paste it into my blog.

That way, you also get the additional benefit of any traffic YouTube may bring.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

I like Viddler the best because you can brand your own movies, but I still think embedding them is the best way.

Embedding will work well because it is designed that way, compared to finding a way yo up load it yourself. Also if you embed from a website you will get the traffic from those places as well.

YouTube has a custom player that is pretty cool.
    http://youtube.com/custom_player - you can
rotate a bunch of videos with the wider format
    player.

Thanks very much everyone. I'll go off and have a look at all these.

I guess the answer is that it's very much a personal preference!
