Recommendation Needed: Mass Find and Replace HTML Tool

4 replies
Hi I need to replace some html code on over 200 pages of a site.
Can anyone recommend a tool to accomplish this with ease
I seem to recall mention of a tool to do this in the past but can't find it now

Thanks
Tom

    Hey Tom,
    You might want to try Adobe Dreamweaver to do a search and replace over either the current file, selected files, or every file in your Web site. You can also try table2css,Regex.
    Hope this helps,
    Dave

    Notepad ++ (it is free).

    Search > Replace > Find In Files tab. If you want to replace small items on lots of pages, this is ideal.

    Dreamweaver will do it as well.

    Many search and replace tools won't replace multiple lines. If you need to do that you might try Search and Replace by Nodesoft. It's a free program, or at least it was when I got it, but my version is a few years old.

    Be careful using it though. You might want to make a back-up of all the folders you run it on, as it works on the directory level and there's no undo.

    Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.
