What are your absolutely best free traffic methods and how much traffic do you get as a result?

Thought I'd throw this one out there in the hope of discovering a new gem or two.

I know this is boring, but SEO. Article marketing is a close second, but we do that for seo mostly.

This has to be one of the better methods. Yes - it takes a lot of work, but getting traffic from keywords should be part of your overall traffic strategy.

If you start adding content to your site and wait until it gets indexed, you will be surprised how much traffic comes from keywords.

Make sure you have your Google Analytics installed so you can see accurately what keywords are triggering your pages.

Once you see what pages and keywords are matching you can then optimise your pages further.

SEO may be boring but it is essential if you want to succeed.

I just stick with good old article marketing. I just love the targeted traffic. Of course some of them will be hit or miss. So they can range from just a few visitors up to about 100+ over the period of a week or so.

It might take a bit longer to get some visitors but it definitely wins because of the free part.

Stumbleuopn. Many people don't think it's quality traffic, but it works for me, and it's free, so why not.

    Word of mouth.

Or, uh, word of fingers typing...lol!

Seriously, when others find your content or your product to be good stuff, they talk about it and book mark it and ALLLLL that good stuff.

You can't beat that quality of traffic

The free traffic generation method that has been the BEST to me in this business hands-down is joint ventures, where another marketer is putting my products in front of their subscribers.

This traffic isn't just free. I get paid to get it through a sales promotion to the JV partner's list.

Not only that the traffic is warm traffic that's being referred to me by someone they know (the JV partner).

Not only that the JV promotion happens in a competitive vacuum where the traffic is seeing ONLY my promotion, not a zillion other things like they do on SE's, Adwords, etc.

Joint Ventures = Warm Traffic + Immediate Revenue

Obviously this requires that you have a product to sell and that you know how to sell it, and sell it well. That in my opinion is the true million dollar skill set.

Learn how to generate traffic, yes. But learn how to monetize it through a JV promotion and you will see your income soar to levels you never thought possible.

I TOTALLY agree. This is a way to actually 'get paid' to send the traffic, and it's way faster than doing article marketing.

Don't have a list? Leverage someone else's. Give them something of value for their subscribers in return for an opt in from them or a promotion.

Ad swaps push quick traffic too once youve built a bit of a list.

Don't have a product? Interview a well known person in your market and split what you make from promoting it to their list. (or better, get the rights to it)

JV's are free, often overlooked, and they push warmed-up, laser-targeted traffic.

Big markets like "cameras", "computers", "cars" and sub markets in larger
markets like "glasses" or "clothes" in the Fashion niche.

imo it works best with physical products rather than digital ones.. simply
cause the "big boys" of alot of "big niches" are not master Search Engine
Optimizers, so getting to the 1st page of Google shouldn't be as difficult as
most IMers think.. once ure on page 1 of Google you can put alot of SEO
techniques to play and move up the rankings..

DON'T BE SCARED BY BIG NICHES!!

Looks like article marketing is the winner here. Craiglist is a close second. All this is assuming that you already have implemented SEO, which of course you have.

Craigslist works really well with a lot of my keywords because I look for low competition keywords with good search rates. I can sometimes get 4 or 5 craigslist ads showing up on the first page of Google for my search term. That's good traffic. And of course, my articles in various directories are in those results as well. Total domination! Works great!!
