PayPal Phishing Emails Getting Very Scary

Usually, a phishing email from PayPal won't have your name in it and that's how
you can tell that it is one.

Well, the one that came today DID have my name in it and looked pretty
damn authentic. It said my account was limited. Still, I didn't click on any
links and instead went to my PayPal account and logged in. NEVER do this
from the email because you never know.

Anyway, I saw a link at my account that said account limits and I was sure
that something was wrong. When I clicked on it, however, each limit said it
had been lifted.

Naturally, at this point I was very confused. So I called PayPal.

They had read the email and told me that it was indeed a phishing one because
the case number had 3 digits too few.

They said the phishers are getting very good, even getting your names now.

So no matter how legit a PayPal email looks, even if it has your name...do
NOT click on any links. Go to your account and log in. Then, call PayPal if
you're not sure. You'll get a pin # to verify who you are.

It's getting real scary out there folks.

** EDIT ** PS...One last thing. The PayPal rep said there will NEVER be
links in the email itself to log into your account. That is another way you
can tell it's fake.

Good advice to never click on the links in the emails. If there's something really wrong with your account, you'll know when you log into the real Paypal site.

Got the same thing about a month ago. I think with all the social sites and the "interconnecting" spammers can get a lot more information about you than they could before. So now you have to be super vigilant about details.

Listed a few of the things that were not quite right in the email I got
