Has anyone used SOLO ads with great success? If so, what are some good resources/websites with responsive SOLO ad lists? Thanks.

I would like to know the answer to this as well, although I have heard many times that it works well, it would be good to hear some details on how to do it the right way.

Also, if solo ads are available for niches outside of IM. It gets really frustrating when every WSO and internet marketer just tells you to build your list that way but they only show you for the IM niche.

It really depends in what market you are targeting. One resource that is often cited is the Directory of Ezines which you can find here: Directory of Ezines

Another one is the Ezine Directory:

    The Ezine Directory

Here are some other resources: (some are outdated)

Ezine Directories Top 20: The pick of the best ezine directories on the Net

Another thing you can do is use the Search Engines and look for other webmasters in your niche and contact them and ask them if they offer any solo advertising. It can be very effective as long as you know how to target your audience.

And if I'm not mistaken, Rod, Ezine advertising will work for virtually any niche. Right?

To address the OP, if you are in the IM niche you can check the Warrior Classified ads here on this forum for people selling solo ads to their lists. Another site is safe-swaps.com.

Yes, that is correct. Though after some testing it actually might be more cost effective to use something like MSN Adcenter or CPV Direct, buy some clicks / impressions and send that traffic to an opt-in form / squeeze page type of web page. Though this will vary based on the price per click versus the advertising, the price point of your product / service, and if you have a complete sales funnel with more than one back-end offer.

A solo ad is an ad that you purchase to send a one-time mailing (or more) to another person's or company's list. You can contact e-zine owners, webmasters that have a list already, or list brokers.

Better bet: top ezine ads. More people will open and read the weekly(or however often)
ezine that is sent, as opposed to a solo ad that is clearly an advertisement. The top ezine ad is the one at the top of the page in an ezine.

Here's a great resource of solo ads:

    Reed Floren's Solo Ad Directory

They're all for the IM niche though.

I have purchased two solo ads here on the Warrior Forum. Both were in the Make Money Online niche and I had great results from one and average results from the other. The biggest thing is whether the ad owner's list will like what you are offering. So do your research, ask questions of the owner and make sure you are satisfied before purchasing your ad.

Well, solo ads works, but the results depends on who you bought it from.

I have had good and bad runs with solo ads.. Some deliver as they say, and some are just complete bull.. I have had my own share of 3,4 and 5 figure (with one blast) profits but at the same time, had went through numerous $0 profit day too with a few others.

The key is getting it all from legit sources, and sometimes, you only know who is legit and who is not after you run your solo ads with them and tracked the results.

Solo Ads are like outsourcers and coders, you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find your prince or princess.... but once you find her, keep her close!

Nothing is private. No one cares about your traffic sources. There are tons to go around.

        Thanks for the responses guys.

I agree with what's been said so far mostly. I think it's really just about the offer and the list, and making sure they match. Also it's important to send a small amount to the squeeze page first to make sure it converts. In the im niche the more general you go with your squeeze page the better i.e driving traffic, making money, list building etc.

They do work but they are alot of factors to consider like does your offer convert. quality of the list you'll be promoting to etc.
