Any software to track this?

I have an information product with pdf, audio and video that a potential partner is interested in buying from me at wholesale price. He intends to buy 50 licenses from me at an agreed wholesale price which he will then setup his own secured download site for his customers.

The question is, is this model common? And is there any software to ensure that he does not sell beyond the 50 licenses he has bought from me?

Is there a way that I can control and require the user to enter some form of registration code which I can limit to just 50 licenses before the user can open up his purchases?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

  • Sounds weird to me. Never heard of this kind of agreement.

Instead of paying you for a "license for 50 copies" ...if you've got this set up on clickbank, tell the guy to sign up as an affiliate and promote the damn product for a commission.

It's you're product, you created it, and YOU should be getting traffic to the product sales page via PPC, SEO, media buys, and affiliates.

Again, I've never heard of this kind of arrangement and it sounds shady. Unless I'm missing something.

The partner actually wants to partially brand this as his own product which is why he isn't taking the conventional affiliate route.

Estimate how much money will you make with this product on the market and how long do you think you will be able to sell it and then charge the man 30% of that amount and you are done.

Is this the calculation for selling him PLR rights?

I did the same mistake in the past, I have rebranded a product and my partner sold it like it was his.
So the best solution for this is to sell him PLR rights for an amout that will be very convenient for you.
I am not ready to sell PLR rights for my product yet. But if I do decide to take that path, how would I estimate how much to charge for this?

Would it be possible (as part of your T&Cs) to set up Google Analytics on the download page that you can both share? That way you can track events like how many times a download button is pressed.

Thanks for the suggestion. But it may not be viable because user may hit the download button a few times especially if their download times out, etc.
