strategy to rank site internationally

Hi All,

What would be the best strategy to rank a site world wide but also
appear in the rankings for Australia and NZ.

The site is built on a com.au domain and they own the .com domain.

Cheers
Arturo

Well, it depends on the site. My site gets a lot of traffic from users from the UK, Australia and (especially) the Philippines (my second largest market) but that's due to a lot of my article topics (many of the articles on WriterParty are about Facebook games) being very popular in those countries. I think the strategy is simply to write about what those specific users are searching for.

If you try optimizing for global results, the effect will reflect in local search result. My experience tells me, when i go for global search result, the site i am promoting, comes on top of local search result naturally. I never had to do anything specific to get the site appear in the local search result. In case, you are not having it on local result but in global, think narrowing down the backlinking domains. Specify the specific breed of domains - mostly from the local domains. To ensure it comes in local list, get backlinks from local domains. Hope, this helps. Thanks.
