Creating a Website Like Squidoo or Hubpages?

I like the simplicity of using websites like Squidoo or Hubpages. Is there a way to get a site that's similar, but on my own domain? I'm not interested in letting other people have access. What I basically want is a site that behaves like Squidoo or Hubpages on my own domain for my own use.

Thanks.

Squidoo is a very big platform, can you manage a big website ?

I think I would be able to handle it. I read about Pligg, which is a content management system. Perhaps that is something I could try.

        Hi Michelle,

Are you asking literally about "creating a site like Squidoo/HubPages" or about creating a site like the individual sites one can create and use on Squidoo/HubPages?

If it happens to be the latter, then I recommend Weebly. You can use your own domain-name there (simply by redirecting from the registrar - don't buy your domain-name through Weebly, of course, because you wouldn't want to register and host in the same place). It has a built-in site-builder which is easy to use, and you can make great sites there.

They have both free and paid packages. The free one limits you to two sites only and means they'll put a little button saying "Build your free site with Weebly" (or something very similar) at the bottom. With the paid upgrade, that disappears and you get ten sites instead of two. I think they're a really good and much underrated host.

And apologies if I misunderstood you ...

You're correct, I want to create a site like the individual sites you can create on Squidoo/HubPages. They look great, and are fun to put together. I have several lenses and hubs. But I've been thinking, it would be great to have that look (or something close) on my own domain. I will give Weebly a look. Thanks.

There's also "Yola" and "Blinkweb" (both broadly similar in concept to Weebly). Personally I like Weebly most, out of the three. Good luck.
