Help With An Idea!

Im a web designer and im looking to expand my portfolio. I want to build a website that people in the IM world would find usefull, maybe a resource or a directory. Whatever i build i want it to be quality.
I dont really want to make money out of it, just having it as part of my porfolio is enough.
