This is good news. This would weed out the bad seed from the good. This would also give the consumers the needed information for them to decide if the product is what they are looking for or not. Hopefully, this would bring down the number of refunds as well.

I am glad that CB is doing good things over there in their house. This is a refreshing action that should be supported by everyone.

P/s- Pretty sure some upcoming product launch owners are NOT gonna love that.. :-p

How will this Change affect Product launches?

promoting a New product, they have just got the domain for 1 month ago, and are going to launch it 1 month before hosting + uploading the sales page?

and will this just affect the sales pages of the product ?

A lot of the new launches cater to the "Magic button crowd", and their salesletter are mostly polished copy that sells on the hope rather than the "features" of whatever that they are selling.

What happens is they make a lot of money, on the expense of those buyers who then finally discover the magic button to mega-richness is a "fb fanpage creator software" :p

Now, with the new ruling- they have to matter of fact state what their product is about, what is the features, and what skill levels they need their buyers need to have- thus providing more better decision making powers to those prospects who used to blindly buy based on luck

I always kind of thought it would be interesting if breakfast cereal was sold with blind copy.

          Dear Prospective Breakfast Eater,

You know you want to eat your breakfast and boy do we have a deal for you to make those hunger pangs go away. But before I tell you what's for breakfast to day in this box, let me tell you what's not in here . . .

          No oats
          No toys
          No extra added sugar
          No corn
          No wheat

but for sure what is in here is going to make your tummy full.

Please take this box down to the register to purchase.

I guess my letter is a lot shorter but its a start.

You'd have the problem of cereal refunders

    To quote Starcraft 2:

    Hell, it's about time.
Now all we need is the overall community to go around to all the junk IM products and make sure that they all become up to snuff with new CB guidelines, or get shut down if they don't.

WOW.. This is major if they're gonna actually stick to it. No more "blind" sales letters - meaning existing blind sales letters (which is nearly every 'make money' Clickbank product launch in recent memory) will have to be redone!

That's a LOT of video work down the 'youtubes'! I agree this is a good thing since it's going to expose a lot of junk products and should really boost future product quality, but a little scary since Clickbank wouldn't be doing this unless forced by outside influences... FTC, their bank/merchant provider (refunds) etc.

Good thing the video sales letter I just did in the make money niche isn't a blind one! Just the opposite - whew.

    -Bryan

P.S. A suggestion for those who need to get in compliance - do a DEMO video of your software and *add* it to your pitch page, vs. re-doing your main video sales letter. Not sure if that'd suffice in Clickbank's view, but I suspect it would do the trick. That way you're not having to redo your entire sales presentation.

That is a fantastic idea, one that is being done now by any quality solution out there. For example, I sell a software, and I have a demo video on my pitch page (see my signature). I have had this demo video up since 2009 and I'm converting at often double digit % thanks to the video.

The issue is that so many IMers produce a JUNK product and are therefore scared to make an actual video demo'ing their product. They know it is junk and don't want to truly show off the junk for risk of losing a customer.

I for one thank Clickbank for making this change. The more junk that gets removed from CB, the more the high quality products will sell.

Out with the junk, in with the awesomeness.

    This is great!

Dunno what those pesky Gurus gonna do now. They will either have to actually create decent products or use a different payment processor.

Either way... We win as a consumer.

    Go Clickbank!

To start, people need to understand that they are not "Gurus". Instead, they are slingers of crap and should be treated as such.

      Good job Clickbank.

Yeah I hate it too but when I use that one phrase, everyone knows what I'm on about, making it easy for everyone.

Start your own phrase and see if that catches on and let me know when it catches on... Till then I'll use the phrase everyone recognizes

More positive news from CB...To me, this is not even a demanding request of the vendors on CB, just requiring them to be upfront and reasonably transparent about the offer. ...and yes, there are some vendors that will have to scrap their whole sales page and start over.

IDK how I feel about this. Making Money(of which IM is a niche of) has always been about blind offers and promises of the big money. You are selling the dream more than the product and honestly I think most of your customers deep down know this but will never admit it since that would hurt them from buying the dream.

Don did this with his "tiny little classified ads". But this market had expanded now that the internet lets everyone be their own little Don. In fact many of the people sellinfg these products are also buying them from others. I wouldn't be surprised if the same few thousand people are basically buying and selling from each other.

Yeah this cleans up the market but people who buy blinds sales really know what they are doing. Sadly too many of them have buyers remorse once the high of buying the dream wears off. It's the products fault not theirs. We live in a society where people are taught to not take responcibility.

If you buy a crappy product from a crappy sales page that is your fault. And honestly I respect the guy who make his copy good enough to sell crap. He shouldn't be punished because you bought the dream and didn't like it 3 days later.

In the old days guys like Don could get away with it because people won't pay for return shipping(big reason I believe in physical products vs. digital).

This is an unfortunate, expected and wholly manageable reality for an intelligent marketer... many (maybe even most) are not.

Buyers remorse is real for "make money online" information, cars, grocery items, clothing, investments, cosmetic surgery, landscaping, Pokemon cards and elected officials.

In other words - it's a CONDITION of the sale.

The smartest marketers not only know this, they USE it to their advantage.

That's marketing FOR someone - anticipate, be a step or two ahead of the outcomes in your strategy.

If you buy a crappy product from a crappy sales page that is your fault. And honestly I respect the guy who make his copy good enough to sell crap. He shouldn't be punished because you bought the dream and didn't like it 3 days later.
Once you've given enough guns to babies... and seen the result of an obscenely profitable scorched earth seige-marketing mentality... you'll appreciate how naive and misplaced that "respect" is.

Sales are what we get when someone hands us their money.
Profits are what we get when they decide to let us KEEP it.

Brian why not respect the guys selling crap? Our most profitable examples have been selling crap in the "making money" niche for decades. Don, Carliton, etc were doing this while many of us were kids or before some of us were even born. This niche has always been about selling BS to those who will buy it. Personally I can't bring myself to BS at that level but I repect those who can.

But I am also not someone who is goping to buy into their BS either. Yet is amazing me that internet marketing is so full of those who not only sell the BS buy also buy it. You figure if you were on the inside you would know better.

Sure we know that most of the time this kind of product marketing is not sustainable but a guy like Don just finds another BS product to sell(am I thinking vitamins?) and he is back to the races.

The key we all need to learn is the guys making the real money in the world no matter their niche are dicks. They care about themselves first and do whatever it takes to make money. From wall street to main street this is true. Give me any industry and I can show you how being a dick made them rich.

Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are examples of this. Did you know the first GUI opperating system was made by Xerox? Did you know that both of them saw it in opperation? Xerox didn't market their product but Steve and Bill had no problem taking a great idea and making it their own.

Both crushed their competition including Bill crushing Apple in the PC market. Now we can watch while apple uses a bunch of BS patents to try and bully everyone else out of the smart phone market. That is a dick move and we all know it.

I can respect these people for what they do. I just wish I could be that kind of person but I can't be. I'm too nice to screw people over to better myself. But if you truly want to make money at a serious level that is the key to it. And the best people at it can screw people over while making them think they helped them. And in the making money niche this is the key. if you can take their money by selling them a product they will never use and will never really help 99% of them make money but do it in a way where they are happy you've found that secret that Don and all those who came before and after knew.
