Advice needed

Good evening ladies and gentlemen,

I have to first and foremost say that I am thrilled that I came across this site and what a great time for me to do so.

I know that I am probably the 7,000,000,000,000,000th person to post a subject of this nature, so try to hang with me.

Over the past couple of weeks I have started the leg work/research into how I want to approach my Internet Marketing business. Why have I chosen to venture into this world? Well I think the Internet is the most accessible and fruitful marketplace in the world and millions of people can be reached with the click of a mouse.

My vision that started it all was/is EBOOKS. Why EBOOKS?
A.) I like to and enjoy writing
B.) I am pretty damn good at it. (At least I think so.)

My main questions/concerns are...

1.) What should be my first step?

2.) Should I start with an EBOOK?

3.) Is there another form of Internet marketing that I should do first before delving into EBOOKS?

4.) Does each EBOOK subject need to have its own dedicated website?

5.) Should I be creating my own off the bat or should I go with something that is already created? Affiliate?

I want to thank you all in advance for anything you can offer. Like I said, I have yet to take any action; I am actively gathering information right now and hope to be starting up very soon.

I'm glad you enjoy writing that will help you immensely. You have a couple different options as I see it.

A) Go into the Information Marketing Business and sell your own ebooks or other format of information.

B) Sell your writing services by writing Ebooks for other people

C) Sell your writing services creating articles for people

Each of these options has drawbacks and special skills you'll need to acquire but it's all better than construction or other back breaking work

Good luck and keep asking and trying stuff until you figure out what works for you.

You should start with market research. Make sure there is a market for your idea.
Is it profitable?
Find keywords that will drive traffic to your site.
(As a rule of thumb look for keywords that have at least 1,500 searches P/M with less than 1,000,000 competing)
e-books are a great place to start.
Each subject should have it's own website.

Hey guys, this was a great start in the replies. I cant thank you all enough.

Even though the ebooks were the birth of my desire to jump into IM. Reading this forum has excited me even more to the multitude of different avenues of IM.

I'm a huge sports fan, and a lot of my internet time is spent on sports web sites and forums. Now that I have decided to go after the IM world, it is even more exciting to know I can spend my time talking about something else that I am passionate about and something that will make me $$$$$$(will take time though).

I think I have found a new place to spend a majority of my internet time.

Hello jdinic.

As Icombs said, make sure there's a market - a hungry market with a need for the information. I was going to sell e-books on ebay about a year ago and then they banned the sale of e-books. Just to spite me, I'm sure.

You'll need some way of delivering the books to your customers. E-junkie is one method. Or your webhost might have their own system for you to use. But make sure it can limit the time that the download will be available and that it limits the attempts to download.

You'll need a way of making book covers as well. I use Laughingbird software. Inexpensive and good enough for what I wanted. Haven't used it for quite some time now as I haven't written any books.

I haven't answered your specific questions but, for number 4, I would say yes or no. You could have minisites for each book or have one site and have a page for each book. I was going to use the latter option.

I'm no expert at this lark - these are just my opinions.

Are any of you familiar with auto responders?

If you all were in my shoes and pretty much green at this what would be your first action in getting started, possibly a blog? Is there a specific IM method that you would go with? What alternative products can I go with outside of an ebook?

I'm sorry if I am being redundant.

I'm really amped up about all this. Along with my passion to write im very creative and am looking for all possible avenues to reach as many people as I can and bring as much money as I can.(Not looking to or expecting to get rich and have monster success over night, I know it will be baby steps). Most of all I am willing to learn and want to understand the whole scope of the business whether it be pay per click, affiliate marketing, etc...

I recommend keeping an excel file open as you surf the WF and add the nuggets of information that you come across to the file. Try using separate worksheets for different subjects.

This will help greatly as you will certainly be overloaded with information while in the WF.
