Hi there! Is anybody involved in importing and exporting products? I am trying to get recommendations on a legitimate and honest import broker! Any suggestions that might help?

      Are you moving product? or do you need the reference to become a broker yourself. i would like to know, this is an interesting industry.

      I broker the financing through direct lenders. usally guys who have purchase orders for product and need funding.

        Actually, I am just getting into researching the import/export business. I MIGHT get the licensing to become a broker because it looks to give a person a leg up on getting product AND it looks like it could be lucrative in and of itself.

        At THIS particular moment, I am just interested in getting a specific product from overseas.

            I know there is a licensing fee but I don't remember what it is. There are several training courses also but I haven't looked into it that much yet because I want to find out more about it!

    Alibaba is a great place to start. Most of them are legitimate, however some are scams. Just ask for a sample first and that should weed out 99.9% of scams.

    If you do wholesale from China you will probably get the products cheaper than nearly all of your competitors.

    Alternatively you could also look into dropshippers/wholesalers on a site like DailyTrader.com

      I found Alibaba and also one at importers.com. They both look pretty good but I am still researching them. Thanks for that input though!

    I looked at it before Chris, and the areas where I was looking invited a lot of problems with U.S. Customs. My research then was in electronics.

    I know people who are doing some importing, but their products are more mundane and actually profitable.

      Bill, that is why I want to find a legitimate and honest customs broker. From what I have found out, your broker is critical in getting things done. Take care!
