Why the 'auto' marketer point of view is poison for beginners

The 'auto' marketer is a person has the idea in their head that the only way they're going to make money in IM to is to create thousands of posts, get thousands of backlinks - and get a piece of software to do it for them while they sleep.

They spend many hours/dollars setting up software to spin and post and link and feed stuff into, but it ends up being worthless, the little traffic that they do get doesn't convert at all. All of their blog backlinks are essentially spam, most of them are not accepted, and the ones that are usually have 200 other spam comments and are basically worthless.

Solution:
Spend that time researching and creating high quality content. You don't need to start with 500 articles, think about getting 20 very focused ones that do a good job selling. Build links manually, create great anchor text for them - do blog commenting, but actually write something relevant.

Automation does have its place in internet marketing (auto email responders/opt-in systems/content delivery being a few), but when it comes to actually building your empire, it has to be done by you, not some piece of software that works while you sleep. Most forms of automation are something to look at after you start getting a ton of traffic, but not before.

That's my opinion at least!

could not agree more.People want to dive into things without learning them first. Its so simple, give people what they want. break business down to its simplist form and that is all it is.People do not want garbage content. People should learn how to create content that goes viral because its great then use automation to put the viral nature of it on steroids

I think another factor you should consider on this subject is the skill of the people writing the sales pages. I have seen websites that have broadcast well written copy that I know is not true and yet, thanks to the skill of those writing the promotional material seem so right! Such people make it seem so easy to use automation to drive traffic to the website that to a newbie such as myself it is almost impossible to resist.

i agree, might also be worthwhile to invest that money in a good human copywriter instead of the software, if you can't write yourself...

Gonna come in a throw a spanner in the works... A small one at that.

I use software like AMR, Link Thunder and others to submit articles build backlinks and so on and I think if you know what you're doing then automation is possible.

I use rank tracker to see whether my automated techniques are working and they have been for quite sometime.

I can now safely and quite easily go from not ranking at all, to ranking in the top 5 within a couple of weeks doing very little in terms of article marketing and backlinking.

I don't see a problem with automating a lot of the off site SEO. It just leaves me with far more time to concentrate on creating products for my lists, building content for my sites and on site SEO.
