Converting a .txt file to a .docx file

I have Windows 7, but I don't have Word 2007. Does anyone know of any free software programs that will convert from a txt file to a docx? Thanks a lot for your help.

If its not anything confidential/sensitive, I don't mind doing it for you if you send it to me.

Libre Office (the true open source version of Open Office) can save in a number of formats, including docx.

I already have Open Office 3, and I don't see .docx as one of the possible formats. I want to do it myself, as I will need to use it often. I am looking into the Libre software. I hope I can figure it out. Are you sure that Open Office has it? Thanks.

Not exactly true - its is actually not shareware, it is open source. Not trying to nit-pick, but as a software developer there is a huge difference.

Libre Office replaces Open Office on a going-forward basis. Open Office was a product of Sun Microsystems, who were bought by Oracle. Oracle has frozen development on it, so the team that built the original Open Office have now focused their development efforts on Libre Office. In most respects the two products are identical.

I have Libre Office on all my LINUX and Windows machines, and can assure you that Version 3.3 (the current release) does indeed have docx as a supported format.

Thanks for the head's up on this Bill. I had no idea about the Libre development.

I downloaded the Libre and it works great to create the .docx file. And you're right in that it looks exactly like Open Office (except Open Office did not have the .docx, but if they stopped development on it, that would explain why).
