Default Is blogging making article writing a waste of time?

Is blogging still the best way to go to get traffic and links for your site? The conventional wisdom has always been that for someone without any start up capital, article marketing was the cheapest and quickest method to get links and traffic. But the advent of free blog space has changed this equation. Anyone now has the opportunity to throw up a blog on any subject much like an article at no cost.

A blog can do things an article cannot whereas with an article you are always constrained by the restrictions placed by the article directories. Really with the power of blogs who needs articles?

I still do article marketing but I am re-evaluating it's effectiveness compared to blogging, what do you feel about this is your outlook changing?

If you want to become an expert, talk to the experts.

I would say they are of roughly equal value to me personally - although I'd also say blogging will take the lead imminently.

I'm no expert, but wouldn't a mix of the two be the best option? Build a blog, fill it with content, ping it, then submit some articles to build links to your blog.

I think both are fine but article writing takes up a lot more time. My all time favorite is video. a video is much more easy for the viewer to watch. Internet marketing is about freeing up your time rather than getting bogged down at a keyboard.

Wouldn't you have to do more writing with a blog? You can write one article and then go on to some other subject. But with a blog you have to periodically add content about the same subject.

If you create content, always spin it, recycle it, make the maximum out of it. it shouldn't be duplicate, but content creation is what takes most time, so make sure to use it in articles, blogs, squidoo, hubpages, etc.

Again, avoid duplicates, but why write something totally new if you can easily rewrite it and use it a second time.

I probably have this all bass ackwards - but I have been thinking as I set up blogs [2] ... Isnt a good blog post essentially and "article" or can be an article?

What is the advantage to EZA submissions and waiting?

Do people PAY to read your article or download the article from EZA?

Whats their purpose ... better google search ranking etc?

Whats the difference betwen blogging and article writing?

I would think the execution would be to have it on Article directories AND your blog. But hey Im not article guru - Im stuck at the blog "building" stage.

Both methods work closely together.

You need content on your blogs write?

When you write articles and submit them with a link back to your blog will provide traffic and also help you blog to rank higher.

I am an avid article marketer that has recently been creating blogs - so far I believe that blogging will be much more profitable and require less effort in order to receive similar results.

I am combining article marketing with blogging and it seems to be very effective. I am basing this on the few blogs that I have created. I use many of my articles as blog posts.....but I do plan to create several more blogs - some of which will only contain shorter posts.

I have some free blogs as well as some on my own domains and others on sub-domains. I will be tracking the outcome of the various ways I do things for each blog so I can compare the results and decide on the best methods to use in the future. Of course the success of any blog or article is dependent on multiple variables.

I think it was Stephen Pierce who said "The more your content is consumed only on your own site, the more irrelevant you are to the Web at large."

Article marketing is one way of spreading your content out to other sites - people tend to ascribe more credibility to someone with the social proof of having their content on someone else's site.

Whether that's useful to you depends on your business model.

Default Re: Is blogging making article writing a waste of time?

I have a big launch due in March and will use three methods to build interest.

1. Article marketing - I have 23 written to be released one each week for about five months. Using Content Composer, there will be 120 different versions generated, each different by at least 25%. Writing the articles was not too difficult but setting up the changes with two or three alternates for each word in a 1,000-word article is a time-consuming chore.

2. Blog - I have started a blog, the purpose of which is to prove the package I will offer works.

3. Video - 24 are being prepared right now and will be released to some 50 outlets including podcasts via Traffic Geyser.

I am still a one-man show so the whole thing including product creation has been a vast undertaking without any guarantee of success. I guess I'll find out in March when I do a pre-launch WSO whether the effort has been worth it.

To answer your question more specifically, I believe that if you want success you need to pull out all the stops. I don't believe in free lunches, tempting as they sound. I also believe that all promotion should benefit the reader/viewer. We need to justify their attention and time and prove our expert status, otherwise why would they part with their money in significant numbers?

Hope that helps.

Isn't traffic Geyser a paid subscription? You could use heyspread for free. I know less upload sites are covered but if you are starting out in video you'll save money.

For trying to make money I only use blog if it's automated and use it as part of SEO strategy. You might make some money short term in terms of flipping it.

Blogging takes more time and has showed more power the last months, but do both. Articles are also important to get more traffic.

Combining blogging and article marketing works best for me. I write many articles every single day. A week or so later, I add my articles to my blogs.

Articles are multipurpose! You really don't have to come up with unique blog content all that often, which can be hard for some people. Add a few of your articles to the mix!

Works for me

Hi Madison To my knowlede there is no quick way to grow your Internet business. I've tried the blog thing the article stuff and many other strategies. For 2 years very little traffic. I have changed my straegy with no extra work and now have a steady growth of traffic. This is what works for me: I write an article with resource box and upload it to directories. I then take one paragtraph from the article and post it to my blog with reference to the full article on my website. There are many other things to do but that's it for the blog thing hope this helps a little
