Hi all I have a Blogger blog (self hosted on my own domain). It gets reasonable traffic, and a small amount of Adsense. Thing is, I would like to sell the blog, domain and all, and don't know if I can transfer a Blogger blog to another Blogger user. So, I was thinking of transferring it to a Wordpress setup, so that I could then transfer the whole lot towhoever buys the site. Has anyone done this? Any idea how it will affect my search engine traffic, if at all? |

In your WP admin panel you can use the "import" function, Blogger will be first on the list. You just have to allow the connection, and Blogger will prompt you for it. The URL's and structure will change though. |

Thanks for the reply Eric I have seen the option for importing, and have done this before, but my query was more on whether it would affect my ranking and traffic etc? Or, should I not worry too much about that? Maybe I just need to do the import, ping everything again, add a few plug-ins and build the traffic again? Any other suggestions / advice?? Thanks again for your input Eric |

People sell squidoo lenses so I can't see why (subject to reading Bloggers terms) that you can't just sell your blogger blog. I've seen Weebly sites before for sale in Site Point. Check out the Marketplace and forums at Sitepoint and see if anyone else has been/or is doing it. Good luck with it Leanne |

Sorry I didn't understand the post clearly... When you self host a blogger blog, it's the equivalent to using their software, like Wordpress. Yes you do own the blog and domain and can sell it as you own, you just don't own license to the Blogger software, but that doesn't matter, since it is free to use for everyone. A conversion to Wordpress will probably break all your indexed URL's, and they will have to be reindexed. |

I did think about that, but my Blogger account has multiple blogs in it, all using my main email address. If I could transfer the blog to another Blogger user, like you do with a Squidoo lens, that would be ideal, because the site would stay intact. Haven't seen any options for that, though. Thanks for your input. | |

| Quote: Thanks for sharing your very informative article, although I don't profess to understand all of it!!! My only issue with it, is that the Blogger blog is already on my own domain, so the web URL won't change. However, having read your article, I don't think my traffic is anywhere near what yours is!! I think I might just have to bite the bullet, import all my Blogger posts into Wordpress, and then resubmit all the pages. If I have a custom 404 page as a sitemap, at least I'll be able to redirect all the incorrect URLs that have been indexed to the new location. The whole thing makes me nervous, but at the end of the day, the object is to sell the domain and blog. As the name gets some raw type-ins as well as SE traffic, then maybe it won't take that long to regain the traffic. | |

I just pasted that URL from my bookmarks. It's not my blog. Good luck with your Blogger -> WP move.
