Is there a yellow brick road?

Hi there Ben here I'm fairly new to this Internet marketing and it seems to me that anyone new or deciding to venture in to the shark pen is bein told the same thing, AFFILIATE MARKETING, The only way I can seem to truly understand this is to ask questions and use other people's no-how and experience, no not use it, absorb it. So where to start and how is my 1st question.

    Hey Ben

One fundamental truth is there is no one single, right path to follow. So there is no yellow brick road anyone can show you.

You are new to the Warrior Forum, but I'm sure you have taken the time to read what seems to be enormous amounts of information, sometimes it looks like conflicting information and other times totally unrelated information. Keep reading, not only with the purpose of digesting what is said, but also with the goal of piecing together tidbits from posts that make you say, "okay, that makes sense, I like that." You'll start leaning in the direction of those posts and threads.

Once you start forming a 'favorite' approach, and are beginning to understand it, then start doing. Don't wait until you think you've got it all together 'cause that will never happen. If there is one mantra for the Warrior Forum it is TAKE ACTION. You'll never accomplish anything until you do and you'll never find the way that is right for you without action.

Take your first step, then the second, then the third. Now you're walking. Don't expect to walk in a straight line.....often your course will vary. So be it, as long as each change in direction is a course correction to better lead to your goals.

Watch out for the temptation to jump from path to path. Often you'll be tempted because a marketer is good at convincing you that his/her particular concept is the new best method to follow. But remember there is no one single, right path to follow. One piece of wisdom that I read on this forum quite sometime back is to FOCUS -- Follow One Course Until Successful.

When you start formulating your approach and start implementing that approach then you will be paving your own yellow brick road.

    Peace

Yes, affiliate marketing is a great place to start.

Check out RAP Bank*Instant Commissions Vault

I believe they are instant approval, you can sign up and start promoting in minutes.

Also, all of the products pay instant commission to your paypal for every other sale - which means NO waiting for payments each month.

It's as if they bought directly from you.

    Good luck!

Here's one popular way to go about it...

    1. Buy "hot guru product" after "hot guru product" ad infinitum without ever really applying it.
    2. Moan on the Warrior Forum about how Internet Marketing "doesn't work".
    3. Give up and move on.

Or you could follow the path less traveled that was suggested by dfs_dean. Seems crazy enough to actually work

There are many yellow brick roads, but the real question is how you will handle the lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

In other words, there will be obstacles along the way. Will you turn back and try another path at the first obstacle? The second? The third? What if you come across the same obstacle more than once? Are you motivated and committed?

And for a quick musical break...

    All the best,

Indeed the road is tough and of course, man is spoil of choice and greed. Having the right attitude and determination to succeed but getting a right mentor was a silver lining for me.

Ah, the proverbial yellow brick road. There's no hard and fast answer I'm afraid. Just read and apply (for at least a month!) until you get a result. Ask lots of questions and heed advice well. Oh and PLEASE do not buy any products, you have everything you need right here for F.R.E.E.

    Yellow brick road..
Well, the key thing to grasp is that there is a yellow brick road but we build it ourselves and use it to 'rinse and repeat' what works.

Dont do what i did at first and not make records of what I did. When something suddenly took off my memory wasnt good enough to remember all the details i needed to rinse and repeat. lol

The reason so many people recommend affiliate marketing is because it involves learning a lot of stuff that you need to know in other branches of internet marketing. Plus, outside of the training you pay for, it is low cost and doesn't force you to have your own product and deal with customers and all that jazz.

One of the most common ways to make money with affiliate marketing nowadays is to have your own niche blog on your own domain so that you have control over the content. A niche blog usually contains product reviews and related info and revolves around a particular theme like weight loss, dating, toys, video games...They are especially great for the holidays.

You make money by writing about things that are both profitable and you enjoy. The income is residual, which is great because once you get the ball rolling, you aren't forced to sit in front of the computer and work for every dollar you earn like with other methods. You can also work around your schedule and generate multiple streams of income from one blog.

The first thing you need to do is decide on what niche or niches you are going to go into. You should stick with one niche until you are at least able to make some money from it before moving on to another one. If you don't, there's no way to know if you are doing things as you should. Here are some common niches:

    weight loss

    dating

    make money

    toys

    learn Spanish

    learn guitar

    golf

    fashion/clothes

    pet care

    video games

computers and electronics...the list goes on and on

    Good luck,
    Joey

Great reply from dfs_dean - lots of other good advice as well!

Be a little bit wary of advice that starts as: "The best way to ________ is ___________.
Everyone is different, and as such, has a different approach that works "best" for them (often a combination of approaches). There is no single "yellow brick road".

That being said - definitely some good points about affiliate marketing. It's quite "easy" to get into (certainly in comparison to setting up a full product shipping business etc etc), and as someone already mentioned, it can be a good way to learn the fundamentals of online promotion.

But, even affiliate marketing itself has a million and one yellow brick roads - the trick is find the one that works best for you!
