Procrastination, My Enemy.

Oh action, how I put you on the backburner to procrastination, time after time, with so much to do, so much excitement and promise in the air, only to fall short due to lack of action, due to the frustrating, the overwhelming confusion and realization that another day has passed, another stream of opportunities, another time where not only wasn't everything done.
Nothing was.
Information overload seemingly yanking me every which way. Oh how I despise you procastination, I read, and I read, I think, I plan; I choke... It's go time, championship on the line...and I can't let my hands go. Too much thinking, too much planning, too many ideas, too much uncertainty. Oh procrastination, how strong you are

But I will defeat you, I have to.

I hear you buddy, was really hard to get myself going today. Procrastinated a lot more than I would have liked, but understand that you're always going to get days like these.

When I get bitten by the "procrastination bug", I just sit down and try to get something done, even if it's just building a dozen new backlinks or writing a new blog post/article. Once I get myself going again, the momentum really helps me to break out of the procrastination mode and get into the motivation zone again.

    Focus is the key.

      I can definitely relate!

There's always been a certain "high" associated with coming up with project ideas, planning them out, and thinking about the potential success - but alas, when it comes time to buckle down and start doing the "dirty work", the big "P" can often rear its ugly head!

I totally agree with Thadbong - when you can get a handful of smaller, less challenging things accomplished (my solution yesterday was to hammer out a blog post) it can definitely help to build up some momentum and get you feeling better about the situation. Baby steps are much better than paralysis!

I have found that the best way to stop procrastinating is to be willing to take one small, imperfect step at a time. Think in the here and now. It really does the trick.

Don't look at the big picture.

Don't think of completing the step.

    Don't worry about getting "right".

Those are all things you can do when the procrastination is gone.

For now...repeat to yourself..."one small, imperfect step is okay for now."

    All the best,
    Michael

Procrastination is caused by doing something that you don't like to do.

Doing Internet Marketing or anything else just for the money is creating your own personal hell.

You could do what I do. I hate writing and I hate link building and I hate a whole bunch of stuff related to internet marketing.

    So what do I do?

    I hire it out!

    Seriously . . .

Outsource it all as soon as you can and you will find the procrastination goes away.

Anyway that is how I deal with it and it works great for me.

That's just one cause of procrastination. There can be multiple reasons for procrastination.

The key for an individual to overcome procrastination is to uncover the reason(s) for their own procrastination so they can take appropriate steps to manage and/or overcome them, as the case may be.

Appreciate the advice guys, the one small step comment is a good one, I love to write code, and I find even if i'm not in the mood if I write a little then that gets the ball rollin and it flows out of me. Great stuff! Need to try it with marketing.
