I am thinking of getting some press releases written and i know there is lots of free press release sites but are there any sites that people can recommend that upload to all of them in one go rather than do it manually? Cheers |

Hey Spud - I do. First of all, PRWeb and Webwire send more traffic than the free press release sites, according to my clients. Secondly, Big Mike and I are developing a software - well, let's be realistic, HE is developing the software - that will upload to dozens of press release distribution sites at once. It should be available within days. I have posted a list of free press release distribution sites on my website, www.thepressreleasesite.com - but at the moment you have to submit to them manually. |

You can submit to a lot of free press release sites with a auto submitter program. Just search google for press release submitters or something like that. I used to do this but didn't seem to get anything out of it... versus submitting to a few quality press release services. The two that work good for me have been: PRWeb.com - kind of expensive now but has a large distribution channel WebWire.com - only $20 for a release and I have gotten first page results on some fairly competitive keywords. With webwire you should put your main 2-3 word keyword in the alternate tags sections and then bookmark and digg your releases. TedK |

Here's the thing with free press release sites - by hand submitting to the ones that I use, I have gotten very good placement on google for our chosen keywords, and a quick burst of traffic. So I do think they're worthwhile. But there is no denying PRWeb and Webwire send MORE traffic. I talked to the product manager at PRNewswire and they are WAAAAYY more expensive. I'm very curious to see if it's worth it, but they're close to $300 for a state-wide distribution and more than $600 for national distribution. |

If I was looking for a new car and you said... "I have a huge selection at my lot" and Andy said... "here's a sample of some of the more popular models we have available" I'm going to Andy's lot first. Every time. And of course I didn't expect you to give away your bread and butter resources in your reply here. But even a little value can go a long way in establishing your credibility.

If it doesn't give you the results you want, then go to the paid services. I find MOST of them overpriced and not really necessary, though I'm sure there are some that are good.

All depending what your budget is it makes sense to SAVE time and just submit to Webwire for the $20 investment: WebWire – Press Release Distribution Services | Est. 1995 For the extra $39 for a total of $59 they will add your press release to google and yahoo searches too... Quote:

Spud, I've done all variations on this in the past, including paying hundreds of dollars at PRWeb, using all the free ones and even outsourcing to journalists on Elance. If you'd like the person I was happy with on Elance PM me and I'll see if I can dig out her name. Regards, Andy |

A great listing post by Andy, thank you! I've found that prweb and webwire can send you lots more targeted traffic than the free press alternatives, but don't rule them out altogether! I'd check out Andy's list first! Just my 2 cents! |

I don't know for the free services, but: 1. Pr web 2. 24/7 3. Webwire This will send you visitors, and most importantly propel your site at the top of google if you do it right. Franck |

Ok Folks if you are new to writing releases, here is a little tip that can help you. http://www.PR.com is a free press release website. What makes them special is they will TELL YOU if your press release is no good and allow you to resubmit. When you get a release approved, you know its in an acceptable format, Then take that release and post it to the other free sites. Their distribution is pretty good but the Free release don't help with back links. Mark |

Great suggestion Mark, a great starting point for anyone new to press releases. Hey Spud - I do. Previous posters have mentioned it and I'd have to agree, PRWeb IS a very effective press release tool, and I've found that Webwire is also very effective in sending traffic rather that the free press release sites. Yes, they are paid services, but the trade off is nothing short of excellent and gets you more interested visitors to your webpage!

Here is another suggestion. Go to Google News, type in your keywords and see which press release service's releases are coming up high in the list. That's how I discovered a new free press release posting site for women entrepreneurs, called ShePress SHEPRESS. I took a recent release I had sent out elsewhere, changed the date, submitted my release and voila, I am currently #1 on Google News for "marketing mentor." One more tip: Google News seems to keep releases live for 2-4 weeks. Use this as your posting schedule, and you'll easily remain findable in Google News, which is often the search vehicle of choice for media people. Marcia Yudkin |

Hey Spud PR.com & PRweb are favourite paid submission site's of ours. Another good one is express-press-release.net (cheaper than PR.com & PRweb ). The people there are really efficient and your press release goes out over a number of other sites for guaranteed back-links. Regards J |
