Someone deleted my thread?

Hi, I just created thread and after one post it is gone. Maybe someone know what is going on, because I spend more than 30 minutes to create good post for people.

I've learned if you want to keep the ideas, write them in something else, then put them in a post. If the post gets removed at least I have the text for future use. ( not a good idea to post the same stuff again though)

Mods don't like those never-ending threads where people offer to "answer" questions... so that their post (and sig) is always bumped up to the first page.

It's also not a good idea to start a thread that would appear to the normal skeptic to be started with the sole purpose of getting attention to your signature ... such as maybe a thread posing yourself as an Ebay expert with an Ebay signature.

^^^^ This ... will almost undoubtedly be the reason, in this case. If you start off a thread discussing Ebay, with that signature-file, it comes across as "advertising". You can see why, really? You can elect not to display your signature-file in any individual posts you make. And it would be a good idea for you to choose to do that, if the conversation's about Ebay. And especially when you're the one starting the conversation. Just imagine what the forum would look like, with its over 350,000 members, if everyone could start off threads on the subject of their own signature display, to promote it.

I dont know what other people do, but I want to help people earn some money. Well I think the main reason that if you are thief you think that everyone want stole something from you. I made thread and posted good information, spent 30 minutes to prepare it. It is really stupid if I can't start good thread about the topic I know more than 99.9% of warriors here because I have signature to my site. Don't make sence to me.

      This is a discussion forum.

It is NOT a place for you to start a thread on your
subject of choice for the sole purpose of promoting
      your signature file.

Imagine if everyone did that? The forum would become
clogged very quickly and few useful discussions would
      take place.

Instead, see what threads come up by the other members
and then contribute if you can.

Or start a thread with the aim of generating a genuine
DISCUSSION rather than a thread where you beat your
chest telling people how great you're supposed to be.

People who bump old posts on their subject area just to
gain sig file exposure get smoked out very quickly - and
      rightly so.

Focus more on helping the fellow members rather than
yourself and your sig file and things will go a lot more
      smoothly.

      Dedicated to mutual success,

      Shaun

        Hi,

Don't take it personal. When a thread gets deleted....gets deleted. Period.

Do not ask why a thread gets deleted, it's a rule.

And to add more I bought signature image to advertise so why I need to pay money if I can't advertise. So I need to hunt other people threads about eBay? Ok so I will not create threads about eBay, let other people do that because they know about this topic so much. Can't understand the logic of such statements.

You'll be advertising your sig-file in every post you make. On other subjects.

No, I think that will still be a problem, if you look around for Ebay threads and then comment in them, in order to show your sig-file. It will make your posts appear "incentivized", won't it?

Again, think about what the board would look like, with 350,000 members, if everyone did that?

        Maybe that's a bit extreme...

If one posts ONLY to pimp the sig... maybe. Although it's not always a clear cut situation. I reply with advice and how-to instructions to a lot of WP related questions, if I see them. And it could happen I have a WP related product of mine in my sig. Should I stop answering questions? Or should I always hide my sig if in a WP related thread?

True, I rarely (almost never) start any WP related topic. There are enought people to do it

I still think the OP's previous thread (I think I saw it) was deleted because of the "offer" to answer all our questions related to eBay. As far as I can remember ALL THE THREADS started with 'I-will-answer-all-your-questions-about-******' get nuked.

I think it was nuked because it was obvious that he started it to show off his shiny new Ebay signature. Both you and I contribute in topics related to things we sell. The big difference is the "contribute".

In over 8,000 posts I have never started a thread about PLR blogs or even niche blogs or anything that I was selling. I will answer questions, contribute what I know about those topics, but there's a huge difference between that and disingenuously starting a thread to "help" others when the actual goal is to get signature views. I think most of those threads are fairly obvious to the trained eye.

That's a good question. Although it is often apparent if someone is offering helpful advice, or submitting a two-word response for sig exposure. I suspect a person's track record also weighs into what a mod does with a post.

The usefulness of the advice, and credibility of the person providing it, can be enhanced by a sig indicating they know what they are talking about.

Don't give us that bologneeee. You want to help YOU make money and that was the point of the deleted thread. It's self promotion and it isn't allowed. Like it or not, self promo threads will get deleted.

You are paying for the signature ... not for the privilege of spamming the forum with self promotion. Do like most do and just contribute normally to conversations and people see your signature. Simple. Oh .. and calling us thieves or the mods thieves or whoever you were referring to is not going to endear you to us and make us inclined to click on your signature.

If you want to self promote beyond your signature, there's the paid advertising sections.

I said example about the thiefs sorry that you don't understand.

The bottom line is that I can't speak about what I know because I have signature to my site. Yes a lot of said, but who will help people to answer their questions, people that don't know anything?

Well ok, I will accept rules as it is.

And don't say that I am spammer, prove it. I never spammed and my content is good. This is not spamming just adding more content.

You most certainly can speak out about Ebay when the topic comes up and you have something to contribute. Everyone here does that. Just don't be self promotional. Be genuinely helpful, and don't search for ancient threads on Ebay to bump back to the top. That's pretty much frowned on as well.

Ok it is clear for me 100%. Can someone lock this thread because more and more people will come to say exactly same words.

I have no idea about such rules in the past, but now I do. Thank you for all who spent some time and explained everything to me.

You paid money to be able to include an image in your signature. Maybe you will use that for advertising. Maybe not.

You did not pay, and there is no payment option, to buy or post threads in the main forum for the purpose of advertising your services.

It doesn't have to make sense. Just accept it: this is how things work around here.

Lot of good advice has been posted for you. Read them, think about them and you will see, after a time, they will make sense.

P.S. And no, we are not thieves... but most of the veteran forum members know how the herd mentality works in forums

    Hi OP,

Perhaps you can spend more time understanding how things work before you make such claims - otherwise you'll have a hard time here.

As usual, Warriors gave you GOOD advice. If you decide NOT to follow them, it's your personal choice.

Oh and you can disable your sig in each post you make - bottom right bellow the editor. There is a checkbox.

Probably best to pose your question to the moderator, and not post yet another thread questioning the deletion.

In other words, simply submit a query so you can learn for next time.

Openly questioning the rules in a new thread may not work to your advantage.

      Not the best advice... sorry.

If the mods have to explain why they deleted every deleted thread... their life would become a nightmare: just look at this thread. In post #3 I told him clearly WHY it has been deleted. Yet, we are still discussing it.

No, the mods will NEVER reply to you about your deleted thread. That's pretty well-known fact around here.

Mods won't answer to those questions. They can't do their job if they spend time answering (Ah! most probably discussing) these issues.

They would have to work 25/7.

I think it is best to listen to the experinced users of this forum. Some of the people giving advice here have thousands of posts. I think they know what they are talking about. I for one am listening to what they have to say. The fact that they are sharing with us all there wisdom is a blessing and I am Thankful for it.

So when Istvan, kindsvater, Suzanne, Alexa, Bill and others like them speak I listen
