Hi there. What does really work?

Hi all,

I've been into IM for approx. 1 year. I want to make money as an affiliate.

Made the classic mistakes, like buying one scam products after another (thank God for refunds).

But I've also made a real effort to do it the right way. Keyword research, writing my own articles (I love to write, which really works in my advantage). Google really does love unique content I noticed, the ranking of a single unique post without any backlink building is even better than doing a lot of link building on duplicate content sites.

Anyway, I've learned so much. But... I haven't made a single penny online despite my efforts. And now I'm fed up with that.

I need a way to really start making a living online. I want to make enough money to at least replace a day job, and offcourse, the more money the better.

So what does really work? I'm willing to make investments. I'm willing to do the work. But I need to know what works. I'm tired of trying out everything and not getting results.

So I need a plan from A to Z. A plan that works.

I'm sure that exists. So I would greatly appreciate if those who actually make good money online shared their methods.

Thanks!
#work

You say that you love to write. Well if you are a good writer and you love doing it, then that is what you need to focus on and that only. It seems as if you have tried many different money making methods without success and you have reached that frustration stage where you are on the verge of giving up. DON'T! If you have a passion for writing, then find a way to bank on that. I have never made money online by writing but I know it is possible because I know people who have. Take a day or two or three ... and just get away from your computer. Clear your mind, and when you are ready ... come back to your computer, stay focused on your writing skills, and research. Research ways to make money writing ... talk to people here on the forums. Stay persistent. You are not going to succeed overnight. Stick with it and eventually it'll come to you. Good luck!

    Hey,

I'm going to be philosophical and say: everything and nothing.

I know how you're feeling - it's like nothing will work for you, right? Like everyone else has it but you don't?
What I meant by my answer was, we're all different, so a different method will work for each and every person. If you look on clickbank you will see thousands of products on how to make money online - but if they're all different, how can they ALL be 'the one'?
Then I noticed that all these marketers have something in common - they all tried a dozen methods that didn't work, then finally found something that did. Seems unfair, but I think that's what we all have to do. So just keep trying it all - blogging, PPC, facebook, the lot - until yu find the one that's spot on for you. You'll find it - you just have to trust yourself.

    Good luck.

There is really no such thing as an A to Z plan that will work for anyone, sorry to say. There ARE certain principles that you can follow that will help you progress towards your goal. Here are some that have helped me:

    1. Money follows value, so think about how you can provide value to someone else online in exchange for their money.

    2. Value stems from who you are - your passions, your life experiences, your expertise. A good place to start is to think about what people are paying you good money to do right now. How can you translate that online?

    3. People do business with people that they know, like and trust. So make relationship building a key part of your strategy - in an online sense, that means building your list and maintaining a community on your site. List building is non negotiable. Don't bother with anyone who tells you otherwise.

    4. Find mentors (not gurus) who genuinely know what they are talking about and follow them. Think about how you can implement the success habits they teach and model to your own business.

    5. Take action on what you learn. Don't read ebooks for six months before setting up your website, just start and learn it along the way. Don't let perfectionism and fear of failure hold you back.

Most importantly, take it slow. Don't try to replace your income very very quickly, you'll only end up chasing dead ends and giving up too soon when you've got a good thing going because the money is not coming in fast enough. Put in consistent effort every day to achieve your goal and you'll get there slowly but surely.

Wow, so many great responses so fast! Thanks a lot!

Currently I have no website, since I'm pretty much in depth right now, so I can't invest. I'm using Squidoo and Blogger, which seem to be great alternatives.

In the past I have tried many things on Wordpress.org sites, but those were based on duplicate content and that just doesn't work very well.

I very much like Squidoo, I enjoy using it a lot. And I managed to rank position #1 in Google for my keyphrase in a couple of days.

What I generally do is to create a YouTube channel as well, directing to my blog or lens. These videos easily rank well in Google. Yesterday it was at position 6, today on 5. And it's only a few days old.

Also, I use Fiverr to get some really cheap link building done. It's something I can afford and usually the popular sellers do a great job.

Anyway, that said, there are two weak points in my skills which are most likely that cause for failing all the time:

      1. I can't make a decent website. Most of my sites look like cr*p. I personally wouldn't want to spend any time on them. Is there a company that designs really good websites?

      2. Copywriting. I love to write, but I'm not skills in writing in a way that makes people want to take action. So if there's someone who reads my article, they sometimes click the link to the affiliate product, but never buy. I need to learn to be able to write effective articles that make people want to buy. Any good courses on that?

I know I can do it if I have those two things solved. Any advice would be appreciated!

True. So could you point me towards specific resources.

Btw, I have no problem with affiliate links, if it's something you really believe in and is something that works. I'd be happy to give anyone part of the benefit, as long as it's not just an attempt to just make money but is something truly useful.

If you have virtually no cash and need a site then get as good a domain as you can and then if necessary host it on something like Weebly or Tumblr. Either will provide you with nice enough templates to get started on and when you feel more comfortable then you can always move on to a more specific and flexible web host with greater access to more flexible scripts etc.

      Hello,
I love the information you posted, but I have a question.. You say to find a "mentor" not a guru.. (I've heard other people say that too)
How do you do that?? when everything online seems to be a scam?

    Several methods:

    1) Focus on marketing.

Decide on what you want to sell/provide.
Find out ways to get leads
    Communicate with your leads
    Make the offer
    Close deals
    Deliver
    Make Money

    2) List Building

Offer a good product or training guide for free (in the WSO or any other markets online)
Sign people up to your list
Create new and better products, courses, coaching or webinars
    Educate people on your list
    Send offer to your list
Make sure people will make money and improve their business with your information
    Make Money

    3) Create products on niches you are an expert on

    Create the products
Sell it either as a PLR or MRR (here in the WSO, in Clickbank, on your own salespage)
    Make Money

    4) Here's the best way to make sure you'll make money.

    Focus and Action until completion

Your focus seems to be on making money. This is a mistake.
Start with people. People have the money and choose where to spend it.

What group of people can you help that have strong needs and are willing to pay? What kinds of products can you find and develop for them?

If you try to set up an online business disconnected from people, success is hard to find.

Thanks all, I appreciate it. I'm left with two questions though:

Where to go to have a great website designed. And where to learn the best of the best when it comes to copy writing.

I need those two skills. Please let me know where I can have a site filled with my affiliate links, yet is a site that everyone love.

Second, I need a copywriter. The kind of person who makes it so you irresistibly want to buy. This part is awesome. I need someone who can teach me to be good at copy writing.

If you can use wordpress.org, there's no reason you couldn't run Wordpress on your own server and get the same results. If you don't have a lot of money, spend $3 or less on a new domain (there are several deals going on now that can get you a domain for that or less), get free hosting from Byethost, and run with that for a while until you can afford dedicated paid hosting. Wordpress themes are easy to get. Get out of the mindset that everything has to be perfect and go do something. Poeple right now are making money on sites that don't look half as good as something you could throw together in an hour or less. You can get started for $3 or less. All the time you're using coming up with reasons you can't would be better spent learning how to do it. Excuses don't make money.

    You say you love writing?

Have you ever considered writing a set of articles on a given subject, and then selling them with PLR (private label rights) as a WSO?

You could then set it up so that they are delivered automatically via a website and maybe even create a list of people who are interested in more PLR and offer them more in future.

You are, seemingly, "obsessed" with this web site design thing...

Forget it. Get a domain and install WP. All the 'sites' you mentioned - blogger, lenses etc. - are NOT yours. They can delete them anytime. Why would you want to build backlinks and traffic to sites that you don't own?

You do NOT need to design anything when using WordPress. (No, you don't "know everything about wordpress.org", as you stated...) There are thousands and thousands of excellent themes with designs that you do not need anything better. Trust me!

However, before getting into the design part of any website - make a plan:
    - do your research
    - find the domain
    - PLAN your site on a piece of paper: content, structure, hierarchy, menu (navigation), mandatory legal pages... all that jazz.
    - start creating the content
    - design should be the last thing, when you really know what the site would be and what its goal should be

Do you have a product that you need copywriting? If not, what are you going to sell in that copy?

Create and sell your own info product. Give something away for free to build your list.. find affiliates to send targeted traffic to your offer.. keep building your list to eventually send affiliate offers and your future products to.

Forget SEO, forget backlinks, forget TRAFFIC for that matter. It's all about info.. I can guarantee that most of these SEO gurus are making money selling info and don't practice what they preach... they just make money selling info about things that "make sense" to newbie marketers.

Don't fall for it.. the money's in the list and info products, let's not fool ourselves.

to really get the ball rolling, consider one of those amazon review sites built for you here. if you go to warriors for hire, websites for sale section. i havn't tried any but for $88-$147 you can get a website started with content, an awesome theme, amazon plugins, etc. what i would then do it begin slowly but effectivly backlinking and adding your own reviews, even lengthening or juicing up the ones that came with the site. start going after 5-10 keywords and wait it out....6 months from now you could be pulling in a little cash which will keep you motivated. very few people get the overnight thing and bounding methods sucks

Ive done extremely well in the CPA/lead generation business. Its as simple as matching up the offer to the audience looking for that offer. Creativity is key here. You have to be able to think "outside the box" but its very rewarding.

Also, even though im an "internet marketer" I am not afraid of taking my offer offline. Let me give you an example...this is something I used to do...but now I pay people to do. Take your local football team and find the next local game. Lets say for example its the Cardinals vs Bears. I build a small ( and very crappy looking) website that says "pick the winner and you can win a free Ipad" then they pick by clicking on the team helmet. and no matter whom they pick...the next page loads to the famous "enter your email to get your free ipad" offer.

So, the way I promote it is I have a few thousand flyers printed out with the words: Pick the winner of the game and win a free Ipad" and also I put on the flyer "take out your phones and do it now" because most people have internet phones..

Now, drive to the game a few hours early. Walk around and hand them all out to all the tailgaters. The key here is to be high energy and have fun with it.

The Ipad offer pays $1.55. I hand out 5,000 (well now I hire 2 people to do it) flyers and get usually get about 15% conversions. So I gross about $1,200 for doing that. Its not a ton of money but its not bad.

This is just to get you thinking about how you can incorporate online with offline marketing...and you can seriously make pretty good money.

In the start it was information overload, But I learned the key was to organize and stick to the different projects that I would start. There are many income streams so you can get caught up in trying to make all of them work and end up no having no success in the end. Then you must regroup and look at what your goal is. Mind mapping a path to a set goal is a good way to go.

Take something that interests you. Make something cool related to it. A blog, or a website. Keep doing it. Grow links, traffic etc. slowly. Set yourself small, achevable goals. Finally, you will see money coming your way. But, as with everything - don´t expect it to happen over night.

I'd start with using your writing abilities to start creating blogs, and maybe use a legit spinner to create multiple versions of each blog. Throw some AdSense (or other good ppc service) on there and start trickling money. Build your initial budget and then expand to more expensive traffic sources.

The fact is many models work.

One person says "build a list". They're right and it works for them.

Another person says "Adsense sites." They're right also and it works for them.

A third says "write quality reviews and info articles with affiliate links." That works for them.

Some people combine methods and that works for them.

    Figure out 2 things:
    • A niche; and
    • The activity you like doing.

For example, if you like researching and learning about new things, then maybe an info-based site is for you that writes about products and how to choose products (i.e. buying guides) with affiliate links to various products. A person who likes researching and trying new products would do great building a review site and info site.

This method works for Adsense as well.

Maybe you like engaging with people and building relationships. If this is more your style, focus on the list and build a loyal following.

Maybe you like performing, then you can use video marketing and create killer videos for traffic.

Or, you want to carve your own path with your own product to sell. Go into product creation (be prepared to deal with customer service issues).

It's true that you can implement multiple methods in your business, but get started with a method you like doing and do well. I like researching and writing info-based articles with affiliate links on select pages. I go for organic traffic and generate income mostly from affiliate sales. I build lists, but it's not my strong suit.

Once you generate income (be patient, organic SEO, learning PPC, building lists all take time) you can outsource for help in areas in which you're weak or scale up your present efforts.

    The formula is:
    • present an offer (i.e. affiliate offer, CPA, or your product)
    • Get traffic to that offer (organic SEO, PPC, via e-mail list, social media, video)
    Tweak offer to improve conversions.

Yes, it's simplified, but that's the process.

You don't have to promote millions of products. One decently selling product with enough traffic will generate decent income. When I discover a product that sells, I write dozens of articles promoting it (in some cases over a hundred) going after different keywords. The more affiliate links and posts, the more sales generated.

Every method works if you learn it, work it, and stick with it. I veer off and try new things from time to time, but usually end up returning to what I like doing and what works.
