Read mailchimp's TOS carefully. They don't like affiliate marketers.

    Prohibited Content and Industries

Don't use MailChimp to send anything offensive, to promote anything illegal, or to harass anyone. You may not send:

Pornography or other sexually explicit Emails
Emails offering to sell illegal substances
Emails that violate the CAN-SPAM Law

Also, there are some industries that send certain types of content that result in higher than normal bounce rates and abuse complaints, which in turn jeopardize the deliverability of our entire system. No offense intended, but because we must ensure the highest delivery rates possible for all our customers, we do not allow businesses that offer these types of services, products, or content:

    Illegal goods or services
    Escort and dating services
    Pharmaceutical products
Work from home, Internet Lead-gen, Make money on online opportunities, etc.
Online trading, day trading tips, or stock market related content
Gambling services, products or gambling education
    Multi-level marketing
    Affiliate marketers
    Credit repair, get-out-of-debt content
    Mortgages and/or Loans
Nutritional Supplements, Herbal Supplements or Vitamin Supplements
    Pornography or nudity in content
Adult novelty items or references in content
List brokers or List rental services
Marketing or sending commercial email without proper permission

I've never used Mailchimp, but it was here that I heard about the affiliate marketing thing and they're very strict about it.

Maybe someone else has suggestions for other services. I use Aweber.

        Congrats, Carol!
That list will be bustling with subscribers before you know it.
Perhaps once your report is finished you can make a nice little cover graphic and put in a plug for it on the home page.
Do you have a Facebook Fanpage? I suspect this could be a good way to attract more newsletter subscribers as well. I put together a free guide for subscribers of one of my lists last fall and made mention of it on my fanpage and sign-ups really took off!

I've found that Fanpages are also an excellent way to find out what sort of help etc your community needs (I think this could work very well for your market).

Getting back to newsletters - I love AWeber.
Regarding your potential MailChimp issues - I won't tell ya what to do here, but I will say that it's nice you found this out when you have 8 subscribers and not 8000! ;-)

        Best of luck!

In the sidebar would be great, but even in your main content area (perhaps after a preliminary blurb introducing people to the site) would work well.
Your facebook profile is great, but what I meant is actually setting up a Facebook "Fan Page". It can be a great way to build a community around your site. When you have news, tips etc etc, you can easily connect with a lot of people simply by adding an update on the page. Any time people add posts on your fanpage, their friends can see what as well - helping to bring in more new fans for you (assuming they have similar interests as their friends).

As for the graphic - I have little doubt that a fellow Warrior could help you with that (I've certainly done these graphics myself, but tend to be a bit sloooooooow with this technical stuff! haha). I recently witnessed exactly that - someone posted a link to their sales page and a very generous Warrior saw they were lacking visual "punch" and quickly whipped a cover graphic image up for them!

Shoot them a message directly asking about it. Lay down your plan and tell that your list is built by using opt-in and not spammy stuff. I use MailChimp for my new project too and will include affiliate links as banners in there and wrote to them about it, they asked how I collect the emails and said it seems fine, there shouldn't be any problems. You are better off writing directly to them and not asking third parties. Also when you do it, you have a proof later on (if some BS happens) that you were inquiring and got permission to do it from them..

Thats great I will give some thought to this. I met a guy at a Tony Robbins seminar who told me that I have to plan big from the start and the one I really need to use is about £100 a month... thats a lot as my income is small at the moment (kids uni etc etc ) but I dont want to find myself with a med size list that I cant transfer later...... each step is such a huge exciting learning curve innit lol:rolleyes:

    Carol,

I am using Imnica Mail which is free to start off with. It's great. A little different to Mail Chimp but you get the hang of it quickly.

Di I really appreciate how you keep coming into my posts to offer encouragement and support, it means so much on the days when I indulge in a moment of self pity... people like you pull new people like me up by the bootstraps and inspire us to keep at it. I will look at Imnica too

Congratulations to you for taking the first action in getting your first 8 subscribers.

Keep going forward and focus the majority of the time on traffic generation activities. Once the flow of the traffic to your website become consistent, then you will want to start tracking different component of your business so that you will get better conversions which means more subscribers and sales.

Unless I'm misreading this, you haven't acually used it yet!? When they shut down your lists for breaching one of their conditions - they just shut it down - they don't explain. Sorry, but having 'evidence' of previous communications will do you no good. They don't back down. Read their T&Cs VERY CAREFULLY.

Thanks to Suzanne earlier for saving me having to write this all down - again!

You don't need £100 per month for any of the services available. Putting aside the $1 trial, which is a nonsense offer, I would recommend Aweber, if you can afford about £25.00 per month (which increases). However, if price is an issue, ListWire is a totally free AR service, no matter how big your lists get - and yes, it can be used for IM, it's actually owned by an Internet Marketer, Gary Ambrose.

I used MailChimp for a while, which was fine while I was just sending information emails. However, as soon as I used it for sending an affiliate link . . . SHUT DOWN.

I am currently switching all my sites from MailChimp to ListWire.

I'm not sure how easy it is to transfer you lists with ANY company, but if you're satisfied with the service, you shouldn't need to.

It's crucial that you find the most suitable one for you right from the start.

      Cheers
      Alan

PS. As you have avery small list you can contact each individually, and incentivise them to resubscribe with your new AR service. Just make the offer unique to them.
