Web hosting for 11-year olds?

The 11-year old son of some very good friends of mine wants to set up a website with some of his friends and asked me recently if I had any ideas about where they could get it hosted. I didn't - so I thought I would ask here.

Their main requirement is to have a password protected area so they can invite their friends and keep other people out. I'm not exactly sure about the content (and they might not be clear about it either yet!) but it might include videos that they shoot themselves.

They could have a budget of about $30 for hosting but obviously free would be better.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Why dont you buy them hosting? It costs a bear every month and ur making those kids happy. Set them up wordpress or something easy to manage and use htaccess to protect the site.

Hi Depending on their need, they can set up a blogger account for free. I wouldn't suggest myspace with all the sexual ads and unwanted traffic.

If you wanted a little more control, you can go with hostmonster for about $7 a month and host unlimited sites. (My suggestion).
