What would be the best strategy for this?

I stumbled across a (micro-)niche that has about 300,000 global monthly searches with relatively low competition - and tons of relevant keywords. This one really surprised me because I thought it would be super competitive. The only reason I found it was because I was doing a personal search and happened to take a look at the seo results for some of the pages.

What are opinions on the best way to monetize this? The few information products I found for this niche can certainly be improved upon, and really don't seem to be actively promoted. (Maybe there's a reason, but I don't see it yet.)

So question - do I:

1) SEO a niche site and monetize with Adsense, CPA, etc.

or

2) Develop an information product (I actually do know a little about the market) and market it using affiliate promotions? I'm not sure if the search quantity is sufficient for affiliate marketing since it's not an IM niche or one of the other hot Health/Make Money/Sex niches.

3) I guess a third, longer term option would be to do both by building the site up as an authority site and marketing the info product directly along with the rest of the opportunities for listbuilding, etc. There are only two other sites that have any amount of real content related to the niche.

Thoughts?

The answer is do whatever you can do.

But from some of what you said I wonder where the 300,000 number is coming from. Doesn't sound like you are using exact matches.

Any option is fine so long as you know that you can make good money from it. It's just a matter of how much time you're willing to put into it. CPA seems to make better money than Adsense, though, but you may have had different experiences.

First thing's first though: just make sure that your micro niche has "commercial intent" keywords, such as "buy HCG diet", or "where to purchase HP notebook", etc etc.

    Good luck with everything!

The exact keyword match from the Google tool was 286,000 global and 145,000 local - I rounded.

Good point - some of those are much lower, which probably answers my question about why nobody seems to be targeting it. Thanks for the reminder that it's not only about the main keyword, and that there needs to be commercial value there as well.

      Thanks,
