Barnes & Noble takes over what is left from Borders

Borders was one of the closest bookstore to my heart. I am feeling sorry for how they turned to be.

Since few months is shutting down its branches over U.S. and while Amazon trying to steal the lights from B&N colorful tablet. B&N wasn't silent either. B&N was working on how to steal the customer list of Borders, will yah everyone after the list .

An hour ago I received an email from Borders (I used to be a member) and I was shocked that B&N took over both Borders website and Customer list.

just of Borders told me that list was for sale I would bought it first

I forgot to mention, they also taking the trademark

I have a deep personal connection to B&N, back in 95 when I was ~10 years old, my mom used to take me there to buy programming books... the good old days :]

I used to work for the Borders Corporation back in the day. It had problems for a long time before they filed bankruptcy. I'm not surprised that B&N took over the customer database to be honest. Seems like the next logical step for them.At least B&N are getting back in the game after their own filing. Be interesting to see their next move.

Yeah, I'm really upset about Borders. There was one near my house. I loved to go there, get coffee, and browse. It's closed now. There's a Halloween store there, now. How sad.

I'm so hoping that B & N will take over the old Borders building in our town. Their own store is much smaller than the now empty Borders place, and there's apparently been talk of them moving over. If they do, it's so much closer ot our house - we used to hang in Borders all the time.

    I love Barnes & Noble...

... the smell of fresh coffee and a good book in your lap.

Unfortunately I can't leave that store without buying at least $30 to $50 worth of books.

It was? Who knew! I guess I should have taken my nose out that book once in a while. I love smart chicks too. Oh well, too late now.

Yeah, well I'm single and LOVE bookstores. But I never met anyone there.

So it's not as successful as it seems it should be for dating...

But then, I'm a woman and women always seem to outnumber the men. The numbers always seem to be the the guys' favor.

Honestly, I didn't used to buy books from borders (their prices used to be a little bit over priced compare to B&N or online). However, I used to love hang there, they used to looks as a warm place to set have your coffee while reading a book.

I don't think B&N taking over stores, if it was going to, he wouldn't wait until Borders shut and clear out everything.

However, i really hope B&N pick his business up, I heard that it is close to bankruptcy the e-books market hit all type of book stores. Probably if it wasn't for nook & online business, they would be gone by now.

I visited Borders in their last days, it is a really tough market. I go inside and it is 80 - 80% off and there are book that are still more expensive than the internet. I am sure Borders wasn't making any money selling 90% but it is a real bad sign for bookstores.

That was Borders (and other similar book retailers) problem. People -- including me -- used to go there, buy a coffee, spend hours browsing and reading, and then go home and buy the titles they'd browsed on Amazon cheaper and increasingly in digital format. Borders in the end became a library with good coffee.

Their huge miss was getting behind the curve on e-readers. Amazon brought out the Kindle, and B & N the Nook, and Borders made only half an attempt at selling several lesser known devices.

      RIP Borders.
