Saving money on article and ebook production

Just wanted your opinions on this strategy for leveraging time/money and effort in producing a series of articles for linking and an ebook as a email giveaway.

I have a product made by me and others that doesn't have a buyers guide/owners manual. I would like to produce one and offer that as my list building incentive. Lets say it's comprised of 10 sections each of which is 1-3 pages long.

Strategy - as each chapter is produced spin it out into the interwebs as an article for traffic and backlinks. When the final chapter is done consolidate it all into an ebook and use it as my giveaway. That way I'm only paying once for all that content.

My premise is that nobody is going to piece together all the articles in order to get the book. So the book maintains it perceived value.

What are the downsides to this approach that I don't see?

Thanks

Lots of people do this. The chances you have 1 person who reads everything you write is very low. And if you are that worried just use a bunch of pen names.

This is a very popular tactic and has been done for years. The downside is a book has a beginning, middle and an end. An article has a beginning a middle and and end.

If you consolidate all of your articles without editing you have a book with alot of beginnings, middles and ends. There's no flow to your book and your readers will see what you've done from a mile away.

This will deminish the value of your report and you'll come accross as someone who produces crap.

That being said if you edit all of your articles so that your book flows like a real book instead of a consolidated bunch of articles you'll be onto a winner.
