Stealing Traffic From Competitors?

Hello guys,

I've started internet marketing last year and stopped for a bit but now I am back in the game. I have a few projects in mind that I wish to develop but I am not familiar on how to market it and actually generate an income.

Here is what I'm thinking:

As I have a lot of friends who are starting to get into the music business, mostly hip-hop, I decided to build a website covering all the peoples that I know who do songs. This means that the site will have a lot of youtube content. The site will represent most of the young artist that live in my city. Sadly, I cannot find a good keyword for the site.

I do know for a fact that music is very popular where I live and I managed to get some peoples that are very popular who are willing to work with me.

For marketing, I was thinking of building a seperate page for all artists with a link to my site. I also plan on making flyers all over the city advertising all young artists. All youtube videos will have a link as well.

The problem is I don't know exactly what to do to generate income. What should my primary source be? Ads?
This is something I still gotta figure out and I really need help.

I'm not looking to make quick cash or anything like that. This whole thing started when my friends started to show me their music and I find them really talented. I want to help them jump start their careers.

I would really appreciate any help or things to impove, ideas, etc.
My biggest concern is finding keywords and the name for the site. I was thinking of going with the name of the city I live in following by "music".
For example: comptonmusic.com

Anyway, whatever ideas you guys have I would really appreciate it.
Thank you all!

First, the best keyword to use is something with "hip hop" in it. For example, ComptonHipHop.com (the more specific the better). Why? Because that's a tighter definition and description of your target market - as opposed to ComptonMusic.

Go to the Free Google Keyword Tool and type in "hip hop" and it will give you all keywords ... and their derivatives that people are searching for. That will get your brain and ... keyword creativity working.

A quick way to start generating income is to start by placing Google Adsense Ads on your pages. But the ultimate is to try and create your own products such as hip hop related ebooks, selling hip beats, or selling hip related accessories, etc.

Hope this sparks some ideas and actions in you. And welcome back to the Internet Marketing game. - Peace!
