Any domainers noticed the similarities in the cherished number-plate industry

I was looking for a personalized car number-plate a couple weeks ago and this morning I got an email with a load of number-plates that the dealer thought would be suitable for me. It suddenly dawned upon me how similar this industry is to the domain industry and a domainer could easily transfer his or her skills into this second lucrative market.

Has any domainer here ever transferred their skills over into the cherished number-plate business? or vice versa?

Can any warriors think of any other markets that are very similar to these two?

    No, but several of the similarities have often struck me, exactly as you say. Especially those between the CNDA and the registrars. (Perhaps a little "UK-only", this thread!).

    In the U.S you hear the term "Vanity Plate", domains that are someone's name take it to a higher level.

      Before commenting I wanted to say that is very good comments and are consistent with that theme, a few days ago I got an email similar to yours I think of domainer now if not for plates but they I will report these days as I am away from home.
