Default I am sooo lost right now!!! HELP

Well, today started off good, but has quickly turned to absolute frustration!!! I must be a complete idiot because I cannot figure this out! I am trying to simply create a squeeze page, have an autoresponder, and publish the dumb thing. I am using the instant squeeze page generator that says I must have an autoresponder. Makes sense. But once I sign up for an autoresponder, get the "opt-in box" code or script or whatever its called to insert into the squeeze page, and finish it, do I then get a website hosting service (planning on hostgator) to then publish it on the web? I don't even know if what I just typed makes sense to ME! Could someone please help me by telling me exactly what I need to do to get this started and in what order and maybe some better choices that I have mentioned above. Thank you.

That makes perfect sense. You are on the right track.

After you add the code to the HTML you will not see the optin box until you put the webpage (index.html + any images you use) up on the web.

You need software to upload to your space on the server at the hosting company you pick. I'm not familiar with Instant Squeeze Page Generator, it may have this software built in.

If not, what you need is called an FTP Client software (your computer is the client of your hosting company's computer) to upload your page.

Popular ones are CuteFTP, WS-FTP, and others folks here can probably tell you if there are any free FTP Client software out there.

Where you place your page (index.html + photos) on the hosting company's server will depend upon the hosting company.

I use three different ones and they are each slightly different. One of them has a file folder called "htdocs" into which I upload my stuff, another has a folder called "Public HTML," and the third company has neither.

Whoever you choose as a host will have tech support who can tell you. In some cases, the Cpanel (control panel) on the hosting company's site will walk you through it.

George, I don't think the OP can PM yet, too low a message count.

So sit back and take a deep breath. What autoresponder are you using? Aweber has tutorials, and you can also get alot of help here if you have figured out where the failure is.

Try Filezilla, or CuteFPT. A bit of a learning curve for us non-techies, but again, if you can figure out where you're hung up, if it's external to the squeeze page software, your hosting company may also have a tutorial or a help line for those kinds of questions since it sounds like a loading issue.

Anyway, try a couple of new things and see what happens.

You may need to take a break because when you're very upset your mind is less efficient.

Take 5 minutes away from the computer and follow the directions that Don gave you. If it still doesn't work you can let us know about any error messages you're getting or where exactly you get stuck.

1. buy domain.
2. Buy hosting.
3. Make squeeze page with autoresponder html in it. You could make the page by using Notepad on you PC and then save the document as a .html.
4. Then upload that document through an FTP client like Filezilla and you are usually good to go.

Hi,
Once you have your page ready - with your opt-in box code inserted properly - you will need someone to host your site. It might be easier for you if you look for a host that has the CPanel (Control Panel). This gives you a screen with various things you can see and do with your site and your host account: upload and delete files using the File Manager, check your site stats to see number of visitors, and a bunch of other things. It's much easier than using an FTP client as others have suggested.

Of course, you will need to buy a domain name for your site, too. There are several places where you can buy them, ranging from a few dollars to more. Some popular ones are 1and1.com, domain.com, and others. Run a search through the Forum here and you'll find threads where other services are recommended, including hosting and domain purchase sites.

If possible, you might be better off buying your domain wherever you host, so you don't have to struggle with more "lessons" on setting up your own domain. Your host service will do it for you, if you buy the domain in the same place. There are Warriors who recommend against this because if your domain goes down, you can't get to your URL and transfer it as you can if you buy the domain elsewhere.

And that's it.

Hope it helps.

Sylvia

There is some really good help here. But I agree with writing Pete, sounds like you need a break.

One of the hardest things I have tried to do is to take a 10 minute break each hour. It will help though, let's you focus better. I actually went out and bought an alarm clock to remind me to do this.

Relax.. take a deep breath and get your mind off it for a bit.

I know it really gets very frustrating when things don't work, and you want them to. You can do it.

THANKS EVERYBODY! I took about a 20 minute break to calm down and re-focus. I will give it another go and see what happens. Hey George, if I have any further problems, I will PM you! Thank you, thank you, thank you. Time for round 2!
