NEWBIES: What is your biggest obstacle?

From the day you learned about getting online income until now, what has gotten in the way of actually getting you money from online sources?

MINE: I have extreme anxiety that makes me NEED to understand everything before I can even start. This has slowed me down and it made me take 3 YEARS before I did anything relevant about it. The things you read in blogs and forums that essentially say "you have to be fearless and just go for it", yeah I didn't have that. I had to bridge that "jump" with as much information as I could to make that jump as scary and as short as possible.

I had the same problem. Taking action was quite scary because I don't know if I could sustain the amount of money (although small) to host a website and was afraid that even if I did set up a website I was afraid that I would not make any money.

I realized that whether you make money or not is not the issue. If you don't make money on a particular website, either try to optimize the website itself (seo, video, images, content) or try a new website where competition is lower and focuses on simpler methods (reviewing products, etc).

All the things that I have learned so far, I would have never realized them if I didn't take action.

Oh and also, signing up for this forum helped me great deal as well.

Yeah, I'm kinda the same. I'm slow starting, because I feel the need to study everything before I start.

Also, getting a good amount of residual traffic is something I need to conquer.
My personal theory is that traffic is a luxury for people with content hahaha. I'm starting first (as best as I can without stopping) and fixing later.

Getting consistent traffic. I'm not really a newbie, but that's always been my problem.

Hi everybody, this is my first post, how exciting!
My biggest obstacle is myself, Taking action!
I have recently written my 1st article and submitted to Ezine, I have had to resubmit it 3 times due to 'problem status' but ill get it published this time (fingers crossed).

You know I write a little bit and I have a problem sometimes getting accepted with articles that I should be able to just snap right threw. Most of the time I think it is because I am excited about something new and I'm in a hurry to get it accepted. Sometimes I want to get it written and go on to the next step. What I've found is that I can't do that.
It is like catching a base ball and throwing the runner out on first base. I can't throw that runner out until I catch the ball. If I am thinking about that runner I won't even catch the ball.
I have to make myself get to a quiet place and edit that first or second or third draft to the point I think it is good enough (to my own standards) before I ever submit it. I've found if I do that, it may take longer for me to get it written, but the approval process is much shorter.
I'm no great author either but hey at least I started writing some again. I'd be interesting in reading your article when you get it on ezine let me know. I'm not a critic just curious.

Traffic. Or rather taking the action to get the traffic, I should say.

I continue to struggle with this, but will eventually struggle through it to the other side.

Wow so much good honest sharing on this thread. I can really relate to everybody. Somebody said they really weren't a newbie. I knew exactly what they meant I'm in the same boat. When I did decide to take action in the first place I did OK for quite a while. I started out a long time ago on ebay. 1997 ebay was pretty straight forward you just sold stuff didn't really matter what really just anything you could find that was selling on ebay at a good price. I rode it to the ground eventually. I even bought a pawnshop to get things to sell on ebay. That worked Great except that pawnshop began to own me after a couple of years but it and ebay was a money maker. I became pretty much an expert at selling on ebay and teaching others. But what I really wanted to do was build websites and make money online that would i could put on semi auto pilot, work from home or anywhere and enjoy life. I worked all the time at my business had several employees, spent every evening til about 1am trying to find ways to make money so I could sell that pawnshop and have a life. Been involved with so many affiliate gigs I can't remember half of thme some bad some ok but in 2006 I decided to focus on learning one thing today one website makes me around 600 - 700 dollars a month. I don't do much to it at all. Everything else kind of crashed around me through a rather difficult for me divorce. I even lost some of the other websites that were doing pretty good for me. But It taught me some lessons along the way and now I am back with my one website, with a plan to start doing what I was dreaming of and fighting for back then. Well this is too long for a post. I'll share some more if anyone is interested. I am not really a newbie but that may a big part of my problem getting started too. I guess we'll see. Good luck everyone

I had luck because I already had good job on an oil rig what makes me good money so I was not afraid to invest in some programs and software’s. I start 7 years ago with SpiderWeb Marketing but I remain only with the GDI. In this job, if you wait and don’t take action you are loosed. Another thing, if you don’t try by yourself you ever know if something works or not. Don’t listen too much other people talk. Most of them think that Make money on the Internet is scam and according them, millions of people around the world are living from air.
Once you knock on the front door and enter in, all other doors will open by it self.
Last what I do is promotion of an adult online dating site and it’s wonderful. As you know that everyone loves sex and I don’t need to target audience.
Slowly I study tricks and technique and I write 5 e-book on my mother language about how to make money on Internet what I sell through my web page. And for marketers they say that he reach the top once he write a book and publish it.

The problem with waiting till you know it all is that you will never know it all. I have the same problem though, and it is easy to say that, but not so easy to do it.

I have sat down at my computer many times to do something, but before I ever get anything done, I get confused or change my mind and then end up not knowing just exactly what I want to do. I have bought more than one domain because I had an idea, only to let it expire a year later without ever building a site because it didn't seem like such a good idea after I spent the money.

I totally agree with what some warriors had stated that the biggest obstacle in the IM business is taking action. I started as an article writer but I had to read and read some basic what to do and how to do before I made my first set of articles. It took me a while to finish the set since I have this question in my mind, what if my employer will not like what I wrote or I couldn't finish the project on the deadline. Those questions are the factors why I didn't take any action immediately. I wasted some precious time by just questioning myself if I could do it or not. And also, anxiety of the idea that I could earn some money through online is a factor why I didn't take some steps to apply what I have learn into action. The excitement and at the same time, the doubts that are clouding my mind which hinders me to be productive at the start of my IM business.

Lessons learned: Trust yourself and it only takes self-discipline to really improve what you have learned from other people or by self-taught/self-read articles and advises.
