E-book webpage/cover/design question

I am currently in the process of writing a book that I plan on marketing and selling online as a ebook. I already have the domain name purchased and will be finished writing the book in a couple of weeks.

My problem is that I don't know how to set up a sales page, create cover art, process credit card purchases etc. And I really don't want to go through all the hassle to learn how. What would you say my best option is? Outsource or just sell the ebook and domain to somebody else and let them take it from there. Or is there something else I am missing.

Well if you want to make money you have to learn some time. I would outsource your sales page, cover graphic, and sales copy.

Try looking in the WSO section or the For Hire section of this forum to find someone to do outsource to.

As far as payment goes, I would get DLGuard or any other IPN script that works with Paypal.

That way upon payment the user is sent to a download page as soon as payment is confirmed.

If you have anymore questions, just ask...

I agree with Christian. Even if you get the book to someone else to market, you still need a web page and payment processor in place to take payment.

It's not really difficult to create a landing page - as Christin says, outsource all that and put your effort into figuring out how to set up the payment system.

If you have a PayPal account (which is very handy to have), you can go in and create a Buy Now button (which is extremely simple to do - just a few clicks). Take the code they give you and put it on your landing page. And then, when someone buys a copy, you will be notified by email by PayPal. You will have to manually send them the download link, though. This is your simplest option if you don't want to learn - because you'd still have to learn DLGuard or any other automated system.

If you don't know how to do a web page - get a blog. They have templates you can use. Simply make one post talking about your offer with a paypal button to purchase.

PS: Or... you could just try selling it on eBay!

    1) you could get a hosting account with fantastico installer.. then you can install a wordpress-blog with just one click and use a basic one-column template for your sales-page.

    2) you won't really need any fancy graphics if your product is top-notch. perhaps hire a warrior for a neat ecover-graphic, but you don't really need a full-fledged site.

    3) you could create a paypal account and use paydotcom.com for processing.

These are great suggestions. If I do put the sales page on a blog am I still able to set it up so affiliates can help promote it?

      Thanks

paydotcom has a built-in affiliate system. a blog is in fact nothing but a normal web-page - you can set it up to be just like a "normal", static site. it's just easier to manage if you have no html skills.

You can use your blog as you wish - WordPress is often recommended over Blogger - BUT you will need to put WP on your own domain to get away with some stuff.

Regardless of how you look at it, you will have to go through a learning curve at some point.

Hey, I just ran across this cool (free) Ebook website template at
freewebsitetemplates dotcom. It's on page 13. I'd post the link but I'm not allowed to yet, being the new kid.

If you didn't want to adapt it yourself maybe a design warrior would modify it for you. Gotta be cheaper than starting from scratch! The template is a 3 column and you could pop in plenty of affiliate ebooks as well.

Are you also planning to set up an affiliate program for affiliates to sell your ebook?

If not, its very easy to create a payment system with paypal. Paypal will create a button for you and all you have to do is cut and paste the code on your sales page. After the buyer has paid, paypal will then redirect them to the page that you specified (which will be your ebook download page).

    Its very simple!
