Transcending Ignorance...I'm trying

I'm looking for some guidance if anyone's in the mood to offer it. My story is the same ya hear alot: tried all kinds of crap and didn't really know what I was doing or why-blah, blah, blah.

So, I've been studying and trying to focus. Still need help. I put together an opt in page on my website. It's the only page on the site. Once you opt in you get sent to a site with some free (and upgradeable) video tools that I think might be pretty handy. The link below.

Anybody willing to offer any constructive input on what I've done so far?

Thanks a Million,

John

p.s. Hope I haven't busted any rules, if so I'll whip my own a** as punishment and promise never to do it again.

My opinion: change your headline a bit: I'd hit the word Free harder and remove the Fantastic - but I love your image of a coffee-chugging cheetah. Something more like, FREE Video Tools - Build Your List Faster Than a Coffee-Chugging Cheetah.

I do like the over-all simplicity of your opt-in. And you write in a nice, informal yet compelling style... a tad too many ! marks, but that's easy to fix.

And in your bullets, I'd re-do the first one. 'Fail' is not what you want to push. Maybe more like, Why You Win With ONLINE VIDEO. Also, I know you're using these bullets as teasers, but if you could be more specific instead of just making rather nebulous promises, they would be stronger. Hope this helps,

PS - Usually it is easier on your viewers' computer-screen-reading eyeballs to use a sans-serif font such as Verdana instead of a serif font.

      Who is your site for?

What are they already looking for?

      What are they already buying?

      Dot,

I opted in myself and I agree with what you suggested especially avoiding the use of the word fail and more detail of the bullets.

adding on to what Jason asked, what is it you want to get out of your IM business?

        Cheers,

Here's a big THANK YOU for your help. I'm gonna put your help to good use by making the suggested changes on the opt in page.

Then, I'll try and get my head game intact-beyond "help others get what they want and need" and the plain as the big nose on my face "make some moolah."

Maybe I can nail down that "laser focus" stuff I hear about all the time, without burning my retinas-of course.

          Million More Thanks,

          John

p.s. Anyone else want to jump in here? I'll use any good advice you want to offer.

Man, I'm taking care of business now.

I tweaked my opt in page using the advice previously given. I think it looks better and might work better. What do you think? Really, I want to know.

Answer me this, INFO MARKETING GODS: Is there a problem with having my opt in page on my website take the visitors to the "video tools" site (of which I'm an affiliate) as soon as they click OR is there a more "elegant" way?

            Throw money or tomatoes.

            Million Thanks,

            John

The clouds are parting and my synapses are firing. The information I've been studying is sinking through my think skin.

I've decided on a plan of action. With what I've been picking up and the really great "starting out" 'overview I just printed out from Steven Wagenheims post, I'm on my way with affiliate marketing.

Already have blogs set up and 5 niches chosen. I've been submitting articles at EzineArticles and just been upgraded.

After I have results and something worthwhile to say, I'll start a new thread.

Remember, I love advice from the experienced.

              Thanks a Million,

              John

There shouldn't really be a problem with redirecting the visitor to your affiliate link once they have subscribed to your newsletter. One thing you may wish to do is have a link at the bottom that takes potential visitors directly to the affiliate page. This way you wont lose visitors who simply don't want the newsletter but who may still have purchased the product on your affiliate link.
