Is facebook a fast method of getting traffic as compared to google where you have to provide content naturally over the course of a few months?

If your product is in demand and you hit the right key with the facebook audience you will get traffic.
    Will it be fast?
Is any traffic fast, unless you are paying for it?

Don't rely just on one area, use articles, facebook, google, bloggin, twitter etc etc and your traffic will increase.

Maybe faster than organic search, but FB posts are time aligned like a blog and you will probably need to keep posting stuff on your FB page in order to keep getting traffic to your site.

FB pages can rank by themselves in organic search and that could help you get some traffic too.

Fast traffic from FB kind of depends on how often you post, how many firends you have that care about reading your page and what you ask them to do in your FB post.

Overall IMO, FB traffic is faster but spiky.

It depends, if you do things right there's potential to go viral and you'll get a lot of clicks. But social media traffic is low quality, people browsing Facebook and Twitter have extremely short attention spans. You'll see higher bounce rates and lower conversions.

But there are successful marketers who only use social media for traffic. I know of one guy who makes his living from LikedIn...so if you decide to pursue Facebook really dedicate yourself to it and learn how to make a killing with social media. If you just half-ass it you probably won't see good returns.

Guess Im not sure if you mean Fan Pages or Facebook Ads(PPC). Two 100% different things.

Yeah I would say yes and no. Like said above there are many ways to generate traffic with FB. Like with ppc you pay for so its is faster generated. Now if you were going the route of fan pages, of course you will have to build the page and take time to get the likes. If done naturally the likes can take a while to get and if you pay them they turn out to be expensive which will bring you back to the point of buying like ppc.

It depends on what you sell/promote.

I will want to use google adwords for selling a product and serp for income via adsense.
Whereas to promote a generic CPA/business/event I would use FB.

Technically google is laser targeted and fb is crowd targeted.

Facebook is avery good way to get traffic to your site, but you need to know how to do it correctly....

Facebook PPC can be very lucrative, but you can also lose a lot of money with it

I believe you can get the traffic from social media sites but I wouldn't expect a credit card to be in their hands. When someone does a search on Google, they are more likely to have their wallets open.

I will also like to ask, which is the fastest means of generating traffic?
Twitter or facebook or other source (please mention).

There is the potential for fast traffic from any traffic source, Facebook included. But you won't get far if you're not targeting the right audience with the right keywords, so I would focus on that first. A big friends list goes a long way, too.

You can get traffic from Facebook. "Traffic buyers" That might be another story. Having the right pitch and a great sales funnel could bring you some potential customers. Nevertheless, putting your offer in front of the masses is always the best choice.

We have been running a Facebook PPC ad to a Facebook Page selling an artist print for the last two weeks.

$240 ad spend gave us 3044 clicks avg. about $0.08/click
That gave us 2000+ fans/likes on the fan page

For the prints, we have sold 12.

    4 @ $19.95 = $79.80
    8 @ $34.95 = $279.60

Our hard cost for each print is about $3.50 and we are charging an additional $3 shipping.

Facebook PPC adds the viral aspect to the campaign as people get the prints and are satisfied, they will spread it to their friends a lot easier that Google PPC.

    Fast Traffic = PPC/CPM Traffic

    Thanks,
    Kevin
