How To Market Information Product Ebooks?

Hello all,

I had a sort of "eureka" moment this week about making my own products and selling them instead of promoting products.

I have done my research on how to make/outsource ebooks, but feeling overwhelmed about how to market them. I'm looking to outsource this as I'm a huge believer in delegation (plus, I want to create my own empire, which will require too much time for DIY projects). I've searched this forum, but it seems that everyone does it differently, or is marketing a different ebooks (I'm not looking into the IM niche, so I doubt WSOs are applicable).

But, how do I specifically go about it? Get a site created, promote that and perhaps start a PPC campaign? Have a VA go out and promote it on forums, social media sites, ect.?

I'm open to ideas, again I want this system to be outsourceable, as I'm a little overwhelmed about how to sell it to the public.

Thanks for the time on a fairly vague question.

-Christian

all of the above are good ideas. I wouldn't limit it to just one "method".

You could try good ole SEO. I hear many people say that sales/squeeze pages can't rank well in the search engines... I say BullS&*T.... I have done it... just pick your KWs correctly. Then, all those "methods" you talked about can not only be to promote the actual product, but for SEO purposes as well...

So, get a fairly small website set up, with the home page as a squeeze page, do some (basic) SEO, and perhaps a PPC campaign and I'd be good to go?

I'm not against work per se (well, at least for myself long term with actually doing the "technician" part of the job), but am looking for more clarity in how to start selling ebooks.

Would I be able to have my own site set up as well as being a Clickbank vendor?

It would definitely help to have a web site before you submit your site to Clickbank. It increases the chances of being accepted astronomically.

Would they be less "strict" about it as well if you have your own website (which I presume means you're more serious)?

Everything that you have been advised and that you want to do can be done. Clickbank just facilitates payments and affiliates. It costs $50 to get in after approval. But at least this way, you can go on to other things while clickbank makes getting affiliates easy to some degree.

But if you want to get your hands dirty, well then.. I just got contacted on fiverr by an author all tired out trying to sell his ebook. It can be daunting.

There are a few WSOs that can help - I just saw one by Kevin Riley http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...ys-effort.html

Then this WSO is really highly recommended ; http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...t-reviews.html

            Thanks for the info, Professor.

Do you know how much detail Christine goes into for marketing ebooks? I imagine a good deal.

So, for the general public, make a website (Wordpress?), have a nice home page, maybe a few pages talking about the ebook (is that necessary if it's a fairly short book?), and perhaps apply to a Clickbank so other people can promote it for me(yay!; do I lose many rights/liberties under them?). As well as start a pay per click campaign (why not? I'm sure it can be very profitable; plus, I have a few hundred dollars of Adwords credit for signing up with various hosts).

Yeah, I know I'm not really doing, but I like to thoroughly research before engaging in activity -- especially if money is involved.

If you're doing CB, then just do a sales page, affiliate page, you'll need privacy / TOS and FTC disclaimers, etc. The rest is pure marketing which you can outsource and do PPC for targeted results. I've seen mention of highly targeted FB PPC as well.

UTILIZE affiliate networks to promote your products.....it is a REALLY inexpensive way to get in front of TONS of people. The best part is you don't "pay" for the advertising until someone "buys" something from you.

Clickbank is just one place you should be in. there are literally >100 aff networks. Go check out some like share a sale besides clickbank. All of these will get you in front of a ton of people.

In addition, you need to look to see how many searches are going on for the subjects you are writing about and do the SEO work to get ranked there. You can also do forum marketing.

In any event, you need a website. Put your stuff up there and tell everyone about your stuff. Do the SEO and keep posting in a blog. People will start coming there.

Spend some time here to learn about what others are doing and apply that to your market...IM marketing is similar marketing to any ebook sale. There are literally $1000's worth of advice sitting on thread here. You can get a good handle on all the stuff I just talked about by reading for a couple of days and learning.

                Good Luck!

    Thanks, guys, for the help.

I ordered the creation of my ebook last night, and I have spend today researching how to market it by affiliates. I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed because there's a lot of things that I can do, and want to do, but realize I can only do a few things right now. I'm not expecting my first run to be excellent, but hopefully make enough to pay for another ebook or two to be produced and marketed. I'm using it as a learning experience.

I definitely want to make a website. I heard about Paydotcom and how it is relatively easy to use. But I'm a little worried about the lack of affiliates that I may generate instead of Clickbank (it's a fairly esoteric infoproduct). Could I still promote my product on Clickbank if I'm promoting it with PDC? Would I need a second website?

I want to do a PPC, but may not start a campaign for my first product, but how do PPC companies, such as Facebook and Google, look at vendor IM websites? I heard, possibly just conjecture, that Adwords doesn't like small websites. I'd rather not get my account shut down if making a fairly small site becomes a problem with Adwords, even if anything else is "right".

    Thanks.

So, my next question is where to go/what to do to get a website created and ready to go for Clickbank?

I assume I can outsource it here, or on a Odesk, for example. Do I create the website, then apply to Clickbank (I'm new to vending on Clickbank, please excuse my ignorance)? Or apply to Clickbank with only the product?
