What is your preferred video format in product creation

If you purchase a product that includes video content, would you prefer:

1. Downloadable videos
2. Streaming online videos hosted by the seller

If downloadable, what format would you prefer:

- mp4
- wmv
- mov
- avi
- swf
- other

What pet "hates" do you have when it comes to video product formats?

Thanks!

Hosted streaming with download links below each video. .MOV or .SWF is what I prefer but as long as it's a common file type you shouldn't have a problem.

I would like to stream online, and only provide downloadable content (if) its after 30 days guarantee period.

    The reason is simple:
I normally update my content regularly, and it is easier for me to update all my customer if they are using the download page as they know all the latest updated content will be featured there. Plus it reduces the loads as they go about downloading different content of the version repeatedly.

    As a seller:

It all depends on what context I'm offering the video product in.

On membership sites that have screen capture videos, I always have streamed video hosted on my server - usually in .swf or .flv format. That way, people have to stay subscribed to see the videos.

If I'm selling a video based product, I usually have streaming (as above) plus the ability to download the video as a zip file in the same format.

For my video creation service (see my sig) I provide the video in whatever format the customer wants - although I usually recommend .avi as it's a stable format that can be converted into just about anything.

    As a buyer:

If it's for personal use I'm not usually bothered about the format, although I do like to download the video so I have it on my hard drive just in case the web site goes out of business.

If it's a PLR video product, I would probably go for .avi or .mp4 as both these formats can be used by my video editing software.

I will usually go for either .AVI or .WMV. As for the medium, I would definitely choose streaming videos, its much faster, especially in an age where almost every house in America is equipped with high-speed internet. You should also maybe add an option for download too.

I started with streaming in my membership sites and download sites, but quickly was asked to provide downloadable versions - mp4 is the way I went there and also now provide simple 1-page text summaries of the material covered. I also host my videos on Amazon S3 now.
