Website/Blog Flipping

Hi,

I have heard so much buzz about website/blog flipping that I now want to have a go.

I've already got plenty of information from this forum about how to get the content for your site but what I don't seem to know is when you put it up for auction, how much you start the price at.

Does anyone have a guideline on what you should price these sites? The sites I would be flipping will be ones that I've just created so there isn't any traffic or revenue really coming in.

some people start the bidding low at 1 buck to get more eyeballs and that works for some ..and then others start it close to what their minumum bid accepted would be and that works for some as well..try both but make sure you set a reserve so you dont sell a site for 1 buck!! good luck!

You should take in to consideration the amount of money you invested in and also the amount of the auction fee. $100 is the common starting price of a totally new site.

I've only ever tried setting the minimum bid at a price that I felt was worth my time. That works "okay", as most of my sites sell, but often don't get many bids because there is no traffic and revenue on my new sites.

Knowing $100 is a common amount is good to know because when I've had a look through Sitepoint, I see a lot of sites going around $30-50 and that does make me wonder how some sites go for more especially when these $30 sites have adsense revenue already.

Okay, I'll chip in.

Start at $1, reserve at the minimum you'd let it go for (value your work) and BIN at something like $197 or similar.

Starting at $1 would sure draw more eyeballs, you are certain not to let the site go before Reserve is hit and BIN - oh well, it all ends there.

I've had the same questions in the past. From what I've done in my past three flips, I set the minimum bid between, say, $17 and $47. I've always had someone bid on my site at the minimum, however. Just make sure your sales copy is good, though. If they like what they hear they'll likely bid.

Oh yeah, from what I've been taught, don't let your auctions run longer than three days. This gives your potential customers that sense of urgency.
