Default Ebay's DSR Rating.....You are being penalized

I just got done talking to a powerseller rep from eBay about their DSR because mine kept going down even though people weren't leaving me feedback. Come to find out...people don't have to give you a lower DSR for it to go down, if they don't leave a DSR at all then it goes down automatically and you are penalized.

How and the hell can you be held liable because someone doesn't give you a DSR? Once enough people don't leave you a DSR then your powerseller discount will be nothing at all.

eBay has lowered my search rating, my powerseller discount and more all because people don't leave a DSR, not because they are leaving me a bad DSR or a bad feedback but because they are leaving me no DSR at all. What a crock and another scam by eBay!

I quit selling on Ebay some time ago, but I agree that they are getting more and more ridiculous every year. I recently read an article about Ebay taking notice that sellers are abandoning them - so now they're un-doing some of their new rules.

Hopefully some competition will come forth soon and even the playing field.

I too gave up on an eBay powerseller account when they started making things absolutely ridiculous for sellers. Dropping a sellers DSR rating because someone does not leave you feedback is assinine! I thought it was bad enough when they told us we couldnt neg a buyer anymore, but it was ok for them to neg us...even if the buyer never made payment in the first place.

When they have no more sellers, maybe then they will see the mess they made. They keep saying they are trying to make it a safe environment for their buyers. Well, duh, if you don't have any sellers left, it won't matter what sort of environment your buyers have!

Ebay just don't make sense, but they are the big one and have such a monopoly that they can do whatever they want. They care more about their buyers than their sellers, even though it is us sellers that pay their wages.

If your DSR gets low enough they stop you from being able to sell too. I went to list something a couple of weeks ago and it said I was prohibited from selling because my DSR was low - it probably averaged 4.6 or 4.7 - stupid! Now though I have had a feedback which put it back up enough to be able to sell again.

The DSR system is the worst idea Ebay ever came up with I think.

Oh that and the fact that sellers can't leave buyers negative feedback - that sucks too. A buyer can treat a seller like s#*t and the seller can't do anything about it basically.

Ebay have a bunch of first graders running their company I'm sure of it

I asked eBay about this and they told me they aren't changing anything at all. I hope you're right though.

The funny thing is that if your DSR gets too low you are banned from selling for a period of time (6 months?) until your DSR goes up again.

But how will your DSR go up if you are prevented from selling?

I sell mainly to foreign buyers and my Shiiping time rating have always been low. Also all my listings states very clearly the ACTUAL shipping cost, yet the buyers will give a lower rating for the Shipping and handling DSR.

I guess my foreign buyers compared the shipping time and cost against that of their experiences with their local purchases. There is nothing much I can do about that.

Francis, your buyers might not be giving you a low DSR they might not be leaving any DSR at all and that will make it go down automatically.

What should be done is, if eBay is going to penalize us because buyers don't leave a DSR then it should be mandatory that the buyers leave a DSR when they leave us feedback. Buyers can leave us feedback but don't have to leave a DSR the way it is now.

Yes that's true. I have received more feedbacks than DSR. I guess people just couldn't be bothered.

My shipping time is now below eBay's average and pretty soon I may be banned from selling.

DSR's suck for the main fact: Who rates anything 5/5? Seriously. Most ebay operations are good but not great. Some may be. Even people who have *FREE SHIPPING* as recommended by ebay don't have perfect 5.0 shipping charge, it's just human nature.

They are slowly (well quicker w/ each change) weeding out sellers & trying to be totally opposite of what it is & having large distributors deal their widgets. Less friendly for all & I agree....

But it's all about dollars & cents. They will soon find out that some of the greatest buying experiences WERE from ebay.

My friend used to buy the Gwen Stefani LAMB purses off of ebay sometimes for a steal & mostly paid close to retail+ BUT loved the fact that when she opened it up it was usually wrapped in some light paper/wrap made by the seller.

I have shipped all my items with delivery receipt within 24 hours of receiving payment. Guess what, like you say, my DSR rating in shipping is failing. Not because I get feedback from sellers saying the shipping is bad but because they leave no DSR at all.

Hello fellow ebay haters! Ive had it with ebay and I have been Google searching my problems and have found thousands of posts of other ebay users with alike issues with ebay.I am posting my comments on every site like this I can find.Yes,the DSR sucks and is completely discrimitory in the way it works and an unfair business practice.I say we all stop using ebay all together and hurt ebay where it counts,in the wallet!!!! All of the sellers dont realize that we are the ones that control ebay.If we stop listing our auctions there will not be anything to buy!!! Ive found some interesting videos about all these problems on You-Tube.One woman was saying how she gave FREE SHIPPING and her DSR star for shipping was a 4.5!!!! How the hell can that be?!!! I believe everything she was saying because i'm having the same problem. There are plenty of other sites that we can flood with our items for sale, and once the buyers learn this we will all be back in business and ebay will be out of business. All it takes is that first step.
Take it!!!
