Default Basic Linkbuilding Question

Hey guys

Quick question about linkbuilding! I have a general review site set up with a homepage which links out to each individual review page. What I'm doing is focusing on a specific page which reviews a particular clickbank product.

Should I focus on building links to the main page of the site or focus on building links to the specific review page I'm trying to rank for?

Build links to the specific review page you are trying to rank for.

Search eninge gives rank to the pages not to the whole website.

Build links to both the homepage and the inner pages.

Would it hurt me to completely ignore the home page ?

There is no negative effect to home page. Search engines won't penalise your home page for not buiding backlinks for it.

This is also my question.
Does credit given even if the page I am making comment has no PR but the homepage has?
Thanks

You want to build links with the anchor to the product page you are trying to rank for. If you were trying to rank for "blue widgets" you would want to build links with "blue widgets" anchored to that particular page:

http://www.yoursite.com/bluewidgets

But, you still want to build links to the homepage as well with a more general anchor like "widgets". The main page will pass on PR and juice to the other pages it is linking out to.

Hope this makes sense.

This is known as the "deep linking ratio" and is an important part of SEO. In general, you want about 40-60% of you links to be to your interior pages and the rest to your home page.

The more pages you have on the site, the higher the percentage should be to interior pages and lower to the homepage.

I would think that you would want to build links to the page you want, specfically your review page ,this would rank your review page much higher in Google. Ranking for your own website would not be as high as your review page though. Hope this assists!

You will get links for the specific page that you wish to rank for and also interlink with your inner pages with keyword anchored text in footer, sidebar, menus etc. Each page should have a unique title, meta description and keywords tag.

Yes, you can build links on the mainpage and the specific pages. But focus more on the specific pages where you have your products so it can generate more traffics and you can earn more money.
