Anti Procrastination Technique

So I have been procrastinating a little to much lately and I had to do something. So here is what I do when I find myself procrastinating, and I find it works great for me. Maybe it will for you too.

Identify what it is you are procrastinating about and write it down. For example Search Engine Optimization. Then identify what you will accomplish if you stop procrastinating and do this thing. So in our example "Increase traffic and therefore become more successful in internet marketing". Great.
So now we make a little pledge for ourselves, and keep this right by our bed so we see it first thing in the morning. Should say something like this:

I know that to achieve my ultimate goal of being successful in internet marketing that I must do something everyday to further that goal.
I know that SEO is important in furthering my progress and therefore I must do this today to some extent and even better to a full extent.
I promise to myself that I will do what I have to, and not waiver in this task.

Sign your name.

I find it best to write this at night before bed and then read and sign it everyday when you wake up until you are actively doing it and not procrastinating the task anymore. Again it is best to write it down pen and paper, as this seems to have more of a personal effect.

I will write down at To Do list in my iGoogle. Everytime after checking the data in google analytics, I will see the iGoogle page and update the To Do list.

Sounds like a pretty good idea to me!

Especially that it's the new year and who wants to be procrastinating anyway when you can get busy and earn more $$$.

My advice is get a decent To Do application and read it out loud every morning.

Identify the vital behavior you need to modify before you focus on the outcome. It is usually the 'how' that needs the most work.

The funny thing I use parental guidance website to prevent me from getting to certain sites like like Youtube. I know it's completely ridicules and I know that I can remove the bloc anytime, but it sort off gives me a reminder "wait wait you are going to waste time now, go back to work"

Haha.

Get some software that you can speak into that will write for you.

If you don't feel like speaking.... well then you're pretty much screwed.

Anyway, thanks to the OP for the advice. The battle against procrastination is everlasting.

One of the things that I found helpful was to prepare the to do list just before quitting work for the night. Last thing I look at before I quit, first thing I look at when ready to work.

A good idea! I think its your own thinking and the spin you put on it that makes the difference. Kinda like new years resolutions, do you want to make more money in the year? Help yourself first by putting a positive spin on it!

Procrastination really slows down work. I have to find more strong way to get rid of that. Laziness pulls us down to earn more.
