What is CB doing?
I was just wondering, and not accusing Clickbank of any foul play, because I have no proof.
However, what I do notice is this:
* I make a change, promote a new product or add a new banner to one of my sites promoting a focused product on CB.
* The product sells very well to start with, one sale a day for a few days and then sales drop off, even though my hop count remains as high. After the first honeymoon period I notice there are then very few sales, even though my traffic and list are looking healthy.
I opened a new account, tried testing new products again in parallel and exactly the same thing happens: a surge in sales at the start and then very low sales again.
This seems to happen on both of my CB accounts (I'd followed Warriors' advice on opening a new CB account to compare).
Also, although it may not be related, I get more "submissions" than I get sales, on both CB accounts.
And something else very relevant: I recently tested by replacing one CB product that was no longer selling so well with a CPA product instead.
Guess what? I'm getting CPA sales every day and they're not tailing off to 1 per week, like the CB products appear to.
I'm wondering what is going on here and can think it's only one of the following:
1. Some products have "leaks" such as exit pop-ups, sly email optins (very discreet) that cause me to lose my commission. These are sometimes added on and I don't always notice them. It's not easy to always find CB products without these leaks.
2. Suddenly there are "tracking" problems with CB whenever I start to make any decent sales. Of course, I have no idea if that is possible, but I'd like to know if others have had the same.
3. The products I'm promoting aren't really as great as I thought (but then again, why would they convert in the first place?)
Can any other affiliate marketers out there share their experiences because I'm starting to wonder about clickbank. I know many people make a living off of it, but really..you know what I'm saying.
