Namecheap $1.99 com/net/org registration or transfer

So there was a thread here a few days (weeks?) ago talking about the promotion Namecheap had for $1.99 com/net/org domain registration or transfer.

They just updated their facebook status saying they've hit 10,000 fans and it's unlocked.

Keep you eye on the facebook page or this page for any updates:

Namecheap Deals • 10,000 More Facebook likes needed to unlock $1.99 per year coupon • Namecheap.com

Seems like a pretty decent opportunity to grab a domain for $1.99

Yep, I'll be getting mine tomorrow.

Although the deal is great (and I'll use it), I think this "contest" was a little overkill. I know they probably got a lot of "buzz" about it, but this was a little too much. They were basically stringing people along for about 2 weeks to save around $6.

I hope nobody was waiting to save $6 on a real important domain name and it got registered by someone else in the last 2 weeks.

just grabbed a .com for $1.99. you need to 'like' them on their FB page to get a discount coupon. they only allow one domain purchase though. i was hoping to load up on domains. it comes with free privacy and an ssl which i guess you need for facebook apps (although i haven't tried it yet). so i saved about 10 bucks which obviously won't make or break me but i'll take a good discount whenever possible.

If you can only register one domain at that price, is it worth the hassle of having to deal with another domain registrar?

More and more people are switching and using NameCheap only as is. I know I don't have domains from anywhere else.

i already use them, so not a prob for me. but i guess this is the whole purpose of their marketing campaign, to get more people to try their services. so really its up to you to decide if its a hassle or not.

I just registered a domain. I really don't need more . But. A friend sent me a printed list for a specific activity and suggested I set up a site as she'd had to drive around to see location, type etc.
