Clickbank Exclusivity

Right now I'm selling some ebooks on Amazon and off of my site. Now let's say I want to sell through Clickbank. Can I still sell my ebook off of Amazon and my site? Is that allowed?

Yes, I realize that some affiliates would be turned off by that, but I am pretty sure I can line up my own affiliates, so I'm not too worried about that. I just need to sell my ebooks through as many possible sources with as much flexibility as possible.

Thx for any help.

ClickBank does not require exclusivity. I don't know that Amazon does either. So, unless Amazon is requiring exclusivity, there's no problem there.

Whether affiliates will like it or not is a separate issue. Of course, they could promote both or either, so some might like that as an option.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

Something you should also consider is that at Clickbank you have to give a good percentage of the product price to the affiliate, if you don't do that, you will not get a lot of affiliates..

I see a lot of products on clickbank that give almost 50% or more on affiliates

      Thx guys. Much appreciated.

fyi: Amazon does not require exclusivity. F.E., I am currently selling on Amazon and Smashwords, which includes Sony, Apple, Kobo, Barnes and Noble, etc.

    Yes.

This may be putting it rather mildly. With respect, I think that for all the reasons explained in this post, few serious ClickBank affiliates will be willing to promote a product which has an alternative sales page elsewhere. I see that if you have existing affiliates, this may possibly concern them a little less (though it perhaps shouldn't, really) but at the very least you'd be limiting your potential to attract existing ClickBank affiliates who aren't already your own affiliates? However, if it's just "something additional" for you, maybe that doesn't matter to you?

Thx for the response! Yes, I'm aware of the risks/rewards and will consider what you say. In my case, I think I have the chance to "go viral" on Amazon, for example, and so the risk of losing a few affiliates is worth it right now. But thank you.

I never got a response on my other thread, so if you don't mind:

Can I post an ebook on clickbank in pounds so that a person in the U.K can purchase in pounds, but I still get paid in U.S. dollars?

If you could let me know the above, I would appreciate it...

Yes, I saw this question and am not certain what to say. If it helps, I can tell you that all UK customers visiting a ClickBank order page (as opposed to a sales page) see prices displayed in pounds, because our UK IP number is detected automatically. But I don't think that quite answers your question, does it? As far as I know, ClickBank requires the price to be specified (between themselves and the vendor) in US$, and the amount displayed to customers in UK£ will vary slightly on a daily basis in accordance with the prevailing exchange rate. As far as I know (though I can also be wrong about this!) it isn't possible to have a fixed UK£ price. This probably answers your question, but not with certainty. I would ask them on their "live chat help" thing, myself (or by email). Sorry ...

For what it's worth, you could, with a simple PHP script, put everything on the same site. I haven't got it handy right now, but it's only 2 or 3 lines in length. Basically, it will make things work so that, if someone arrives at your website via a Clickbank affiliate link, it will show one version of a salespage (or whatever) but, if they arrive by some other means, it will show another.

That way, people who are referred by a CB affiliate won't see your alternative sales page.

If they leave the website, and then search for it (your product) by name, perhaps then arriving back at the site via Google, I don't think it would be difficult to modify that same PHP script to check for an existing Clickbank cookie (from their last visit). That way, they will STILL see the Clickbank-only version. (I have a vague idea of how to do that but, perhaps someone more versed in PHP can explain it?; I doubt it would involved more than 2 or 3 additional lines of code.)

I'm afraid this is one of the few occasions where Alexa is mistaken.

As a Clickbank vendor, you can indeed set the price in pounds... or euros... or yen... or any of the other currencies that Clickbank supports.

To have the same product available in different currencies, but at a fixed price in each, simply duplicate it within your Clickbank account, and set the currency for each duplicate. Then, you can direct traffic to each as needed, although you'll have to do that part yourself; I don't know of any way you could use the 'country auto-detection' capabilities of Clickbank to direct people to different currency links. That only works when sending people from different countries to the same link.

An additional problem, specific to the European Union, is the fact that you won't be able to give anyone a fixed price until they reach the order form anyway; the rate of VAT applied will vary according to country.

          Hope all that makes sense.

          Tommy.

Thx much for the helpful advice. This would work out very well. I'm reading the Clickbank for Newbies report right now to see if the rest matches up with what I'm looking for.
