Default Odd goings on at Hostgator?

One of the scripts I sell has a CURL routine that has worked perfectly well for the last 18 months or so. But in the last week I've had three customers contact me to say that the routine had suddenly stopped working for them.

All three turned out to be running the script on a domain hosted at Hostgator. Two of the three contacted HG support as within 24 hours the scripts worked again. The other customer moved the script to a different non-HG domain and all was well for him too.

I also have hosting accounts (a reseller and a 'baby croc') with HG and can't duplicate the problem.

However, one of my script testing domains, which is on the reseller account at HG has started behaving oddly in a different way - the php function file_get_contents will only work intermittently. Sometimes it is fine, other times it throws up errors.

I moved the test script to the baby croc account and all was fine.

Are any other coders noticing odd effects with PHP (or CURL) on HostGator hosted domains?

Martin

P.S. I haven't contacted HG support myself yet because I'm not sure how to describe the problem!

HG recently upgraded all of their server boxes. The implemented mod_security on Apache either for the first time or at a higher level than previous server setups, and it has messed a bunch of people up.

Contact them at support at hostgator.com, briefly describe your problem and ask that your domains are added to their security whitelist. That's all it took for my many problems to go away.

Thanks Steve,

It is good to know that a real situation is behind this and not just me looking for trouble where it isn't.
