This start to get silly ...

On my freelancer marketplace.

Last week I got a dispute case that in few hours was turned into claim. Today, I am getting two others from one person, one of his orders is delivered while the other was cancelled by me and his money was refunded to his account.

So, if I want to make a website. go to odesk or guru request website for 1k or 2k, once I got it. I can easily submit a paypal dispute.

There go to be a way, to force users to respect my TOS and not break through to Payment methods. Sorry , PayPal but your not my parents and when somebody got an issue he got to go through me not through PayPal.

Yeah ... it's pretty ridiculous how easy it is for thieves to steal from people using Paypal.

I am not pissed off the fact he is going away with free product. I am feel like we are in school yard and paypal is somehow the school president.

Now any baby in that yard goes cry to school president just because he can ?!

If you are getting multiple disputes from work done through a freelance site, there's a problem somewhere.

I fail to see how this is paypal's fault. It's your product/service that is being returned/disputed and it's the buyer who is complaining. All paypal does is deliver funds from person to another.

Seems your complaint should go the freelance site.

I was a buyer and lost a claim for a couple hundred bucks. Just got the notice that I lost it.

Paypal's reason for why I lost it?

"Unfortunately, we are denying your claim because your purchase was for a
virtual, digital, or intangible item, which is not covered under PayPal
    Purchase Protection."

It was for a service which was not completed. Horrible service, but I only have myself to blame for not doing my homework well enough. So I'm out a couple hundred for work which did not get done.

Paypal had limited this seller's account as I could not submit a dispute as he did not have access to his account, only a claim as they had frozen it. Clearly, he had too many disputes! I do know that for a fact, by the way. So it's clear that both buyers and sellers alike on paypal can be screwed over. In the end, who's the winner? Paypal...

Kay King. I am the owner of the website.

The website has term of service. Any dispute is suppose to be resolved should be failed through us.

What is going on is simple somebody got the work done or buyer a service. Once it is delievered, they hurry up to PayPal fill dispute.

Most seller are forced to issue it not because of anything other than not to have issue with PayPal itself.

It does sounds silly. I am currently ban any users who go ahead through PayPal directly by ip address, email , and paypal account from register or buying but again.

The time wasted and the freelancer who done the work has nothing to do with this movie.

Paypal owns the merchant account, so they can make the rules.

But realistically, they are honoring the rules of the banks behind the merchant accounts that they have.

Any chargebacks in the system go against their credit-worthiness, so they must respond to these matters as directed by the banks that provide their merchant account services.

If you want better service, get your own merchant account, and then you can deal with the banks directly.

As owner of the actual website, I do not know what your Terms of service is.

But I can tell you this. If I bought a website, or hired someone for a service, yea maybe I would go through you first, however, if I felt I was in the right, and that you were favoring your sellers, then I would continue on and go through Paypal.

yea I know that there are people who scam out there, but they come from both sides of the transaction.

I think you need to make sure your position is as neutral as possible so both sides feel they are being treated fairly.

Do you have a page that "Buyers" can look at that gives guidelines on how to protect themselves?
Do you have a page that "sellers" can look at that gives guidelines on how to protect themselves?
Do you have a page that protects you as the owner of the website so you are not held responsible for either the buyers or sellers?

some things to think about anyway.

Now I understand the problem better. I'm not sure there's more you can do. If it is a frequent problem you might need to make that statement about "disputes" more prominent or have a reminder of some kind.

Problem is - many people never read the TOS of sites they join. You can tell that from many things posted here. Unless you put the statement in front of their face in big letters...these people will claim they "didn't know". I can see how this would be frustrating for you.

        Good point.

Anyone reading this post, ask yourself honestly, "When was the last time you read all of the details of a website's TOS?"

I only do it occasionally myself...
