Warriors,
Yahoo loves my site and I am in the top 5 on page one for numerous keyword phrases that according to Word Tracker are popular in the pet nich right now. However the traffic is not making sense as I am not getting a lot.
Does the Word Tracker tool use Google for results or all the search engines? Cheers.

    I believe just Google, but I could be wrong.

    And there are more factors than just simple ranking that will determine the amount of traffic you receive:

    1. Listing position;

    2. Displayed Page Title;

    3. Displayed Page Description;

    4. Attractiveness of Title/Description compared to other listings on page;

    5. The relevance of your listing to the intent of the search user;

    6. Whether the search volume is properly described. Inside keyword tools, Bing and Yahoo, the arrangement of the words are grouped rather than specific. ie. "smart move" and "move smart" are treated as the same keyword when compiling search volume, yet chances are that one of the search queries is getting the bulk of actual search volume.

  • It's amazing how LAZY people are and how they spew forth information that is totally bogus.

    WordTracker does NOT use Google.

    They tell you right on there site who they use. It's no wonder people are NOT making any money. They can't even do the most simple research.

    "Wordtracker periodically compiles a database of over 330 million search terms which is updated on a weekly basis. All search terms are collected from the major metacrawlers - Dogpile and Metacrawler."

    Yahoo Search is fed by BING... Microsoft! And AOL did a study on Clickthroughs vs position that was published and is an easy read.

    RTFM... that's what people who want to make money do.

      Yes, I do not use WordTracker, nor did I look at their data sources, but guess what?

      About Dogpile

      InfoSpace created the Dogpile search engine because your time is important to us. Powered by Metasearch technology, Dogpile returns all the best results from leading search engines including Google, Yahoo! and Bing, so you find what you’re looking for faster.

      MetaCrawler.com utilizes metasearch technology to compile results from many of the Web's major search properties, delivering more relevant and comprehensive results every time you search. By accessing multiple search engines for each query, MetaCrawler.com provides you with a richer and more relevant spectrum of results than you would from using any single search engine.

      So maybe both of us had some facts wrong? :rolleyes:

      So much for the high-horse.

      p.s. Some years ago (2006), WordTracker got their results from Keyword Discovery. Keyword Discovery got their results from Dogpile and Metacrawler.

      Dogpile and Metacrawler have always relied on all of the major search engines to correlate their results.

      Exactly!

      People are lazy and can't understand the most basic things.
